Job Summary:
This position is responsible for leading and directing the site in all aspects of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) components, working closely with the various workgroups on site (Operations, Maintenance, Quality, etc.). Leads and facilitates the development and implementation of cost-effective programs and procedures that continuously increase overall awareness in EHS items to eliminate undesired incidents at the site. Partners with site management team to assure local compliance with all applicable plant, company, and governmental policies, procedures, regulations, and legislation. Collaborates with regional network, Corporate Safety team, and regulatory agencies to ensure EHS concerns are identified and managed. Position has the potential to actively support multiple sites within the Manufacturing Region and assist with corporate driven projects. Strategically drives new initiatives and implements new programs to foster a positive culture and safe work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads and facilitates the development, implementation, and oversight of site-specific programs, training, and other activities necessary to facilitate EHS compliance.
- Monitors proposed and existing EHS regulations and legislation to determine impact on site operations.
- Develops, implements, and oversees programs, procedures, and work practices to ensure continued compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Manages system(s) for identifying, reporting, investigating, and recording undesired EHS events. Ensuring corrective actions are taken to fulfill regulatory compliance, risk reduction, and that the action items are managed to completion.
- Recognizes and resolves conditions with potential to lead to significant EHS events.
- Leads, facilitates, and oversees compliance with all Environmental compliance items, including record keeping, reporting, monitoring, and permit revisions and/or modifications.
- Acts as a liaison between the site and EHS-related service providers, vendors, and stakeholders (insurance representatives, regulators, inspectors, contractors, etc.)
- Supports Worker’s Compensation claim activities, working with local Human Resources and remote support workgroups, by submitting documentation, facilitating communications, etc.
- Ensures that all required EHS testing, assessments, monitoring, and audits are completed timely and in accordance with company and/or regulatory requirements.
- Serves as a technical support resource for the Operations and Site Leadership teams, providing solution-focused recommendations. Engaging in operational team meetings and other forums on a routine basis.
- Develops, coordinates, and delivers EHS training as necessary for site personnel.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, ANSI, and NFPA regulations and reporting requirements
- Proficient with modern workplace software (Microsoft Office, etc.)
- Proven ability to effectively develop, implement, manage, and continually improve site-specific EHS programs
- Strong understanding of manufacturing principles and EHS integration into site work functions and processes
- Demonstrated capability to positively influencing EHS-related performance metrics
- Ability to collaborate with all departments and levels throughout the organization
- Proven ability to maintain organization and prioritization for various EHS activities
- Ability to connect with and influence all levels of site personnel to foster positive cultural impacts

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s (and/or Master’s) degree in occupational health and safety or a relevant field (Engineering, Environmental, etc.)
- 5+ years of site-based safety-related experience in an industrial setting
- 1-2+ years of environmental experience
- Proven track record of risk reduction
Working Conditions:
This is a safety sensitive position. Work may be performed in both an office and manufacturing setting. Work performed in a manufacturing setting will have moderate to high levels of noise due to machinery and equipment. Work is in a manufacturing environment and therefore may be subject to hot and cold areas, slippery surfaces, prolonged standing and walking, and the need to climb stairs and ladders.
