We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist to drive safety, environmental stewardship, and compliance across our manufacturing operations.
About the Role
The EH&S Specialist plays a key role in ensuring a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace. This position supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety and environmental programs across welding, heat‑treating, machining, assembly, and material handling operations.
You’ll work hands‑on with employees and leaders, influence change, and help strengthen our safety culture.
What You’ll Do
- Support compliance with OSHA, EPA, and state regulatory requirements.
- Conduct safety audits, hazard assessments, and job safety analyses (JHAs/JSAs).
- Manage programs such as Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, Respiratory Protection, Hot Work, Hearing Conservation, Hazard Communication, and PIT Safety.
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis; track corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain environmental programs including hazardous waste (RCRA), waste disposal, stormwater, SPCC, emissions, and chemical handling.
- Deliver training for new hires, annual requirements, and job‑specific procedures.
- Monitor leading and lagging safety indicators and present safety metrics to leadership.
- Support Safety Committee, near-miss reporting, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in emergency response preparation and drills.
- Build strong working relationships with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and HR.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field — or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of EH&S experience in manufacturing preferred (welding, heat‑treat, metal fabrication or heavy industrial environments strongly desired).
- Working knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards and environmental regulations.
- Strong communication, coaching, and influencing skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with EHS systems a plus.
- Professional certifications (OSHA 30, HAZWOPER, CHST, CSP) are a plus, not required.
