DescriptionThe Position
The Sustainability Coordinator will support Rudin’s sustainability strategy across energy, water, waste, healthy materials, carbon, and green building certifications. This role provides analytical, operational, and administrative support to ensure consistent implementation of sustainability best practices across the commercial and residential portfolio.
Reporting to the VP, Head of Sustainability and working closely with the Sustainability and Energy Managers, the Coordinator will manage sustainability data systems, support compliance and reporting requirements, assist with engagement initiatives, and maintain certification documentation.
This position is ideal for an early-career sustainability professional seeking hands-on experience with ESG reporting, building performance analysis, healthy materials, and operational sustainability.
Responsibilities
Data Systems Management
- Maintain and audit energy, water, waste, recycling, occupancy, and leasable area data across sustainability platforms and internal databases, including invoice tracking and troubleshooting.
- Respond to internal and tenant requests for sustainability data, documentation, and reporting support.
Reporting & compliance
- Support ESG reporting and benchmark initiatives, including ULI Greenprint, NYC Mayor’s Carbon Challenge, and annual energy, water, waste, and carbon emissions tracking.
- Assist with Local Law compliance efforts (LL84, LL87, LL97), including documentation management, audits, and reporting cycles.
Engagement & Communications
- Support waste diversion and engagement initiatives including composting rollouts, onboarding, and education efforts.
- Develop sustainability communications and materials for tenants, internal teams, meetings, presentations, and engagement events.
Certification & Program Support
- Prepare and maintain documentation, performance metrics, and renewal timelines for LEED O+M, WELL at Scale, ENERGY STAR, and DOE Better Buildings, and other sustainability certifications.
- Support evaluation of new or alternative green building certifications and collaborate cross-functionally to improve building performance and sustainable operations.
Administrative & Organizational Support
- Support development and maintenance of SOPs, policies, sustainability plans, and portfolio/building fact sheets.
- Manage the Sustainability team calendar, deadlines, meetings and SharePoint file organization.
- Assist with integrating sustainability and health & wellness standards into company initiatives and design and construction projects, including tenant fit-outs.
QualificationsRequirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, Urban Planning, or related field; or 1-3 years of relevant experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Proficiency working with data and reporting tools such as Excel, Power BI, project management tools and sustainability platforms (ESPM, etc.).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
Preferred
- Experience with LEED, WELL, ENERGY STAR, or similar programs.
- Familiarity with utility data, building operations, and construction terminology.
- Knowledge of building systems, materials transparency documentation, or healthy materials standards.
- Previous experience in real estate, property management, construction, or operations a plus.
Total Compensation
- The base salary range* for this position is $65,000 to $80,000 per year
- This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus
