Key Attributes & Requirements

Senior strategic leader with 5–10 years’ progressive management experience in environmental, waste management, recycling, sustainability, or similarly regulated sectors.

Strong operational and commercial capability, including full P&L ownership, budgeting, forecasting, and driving organisational sustainability.

Deep understanding of the South African environmental regulatory environment, including experience engaging with DFFE and navigating EPR frameworks.

Proven ability to lead complex, multi-stream operations, manage supply chains/service providers, and optimise performance using KPIs and data-driven systems.

Experienced people leader, able to manage senior managers, build accountability, mentor teams, and embed a high-performance culture.

Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills, with the confidence to represent the organisation externally and build trusted industry partnerships.

Strong governance and risk management capability, ensuring compliance, internal controls, and operational integrity.

Relevant degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or related field (essential); postgraduate qualification advantageous.

Valid driver’s licence, professional conduct, and ability to operate effectively in a dynamic regulatory environment.
