Open Spaces Sustainability Officer
Permanent Full Time
from $92,000 annually, plus statutory superannuation
Buloke Shire Council is seeking an enthusiastic and compliance-focused professional to support the sustainable management of Council’s waste, landfill, aerodrome and open space operations. This role plays a key part in ensuring regulatory compliance, risk management and continuous improvement across essential community services
In this role you will:
- Monitor and support compliance with relevant legislation, permits, licences and Codes of Practice across Council’s Waste, Aerodrome, and Saleyards operations.
- Conduct routine inspections of Open Space assets
- Identify, assess and report regulatory, operational and OHS risks
- Maintain accurate compliance records, reports and operational documentation
- Provide specialist advice and support to improve service outcomes and efficiency
- Assist with waste and recycling data reporting and performance monitoring
- Support contract monitoring, including kerbside collection services
- Support administrative functions at Wycheproof Saleyards
- Contribute to strategic planning, funding applications and long-term initiatives
- Liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders, contractors, agencies and the community
- Provide relief support to the Coordinator Open Spaces
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have experience or knowledge in a compliance field and the willingness to understand Waste, Aviation and Livestock Sales regulations.
- Hold a current Victorian Driver Licence
- Obtain a satisfactory National Police Records Check
- Have experience in identifying and pursuing external funding opportunities (desirable)
- Possess strong organisational and time management skills
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Have well-developed interpersonal and customer service skills
- Be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Hold or be willing to obtain a Construction Induction Card (White Card)
