Job Description
This is a fully onsite role based at our GMP Laboratory in Middleton, WI. We welcome applicants from all locations within the US. Please note that relocation assistance will be provided for this position.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, which includes a drug screening.

Lead our global Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) program for the GMP Laboratory Business as we advance our goal of improving health, environmental sustainability, and safety. As EHS Director, you'll develop and implement comprehensive programs ensuring workplace safety, environmental compliance, and risk management across our facilities. Partner with leadership to cultivate a strong safety culture while supporting business growth through sustainable practices. Enhance programs through data-driven decision making and industry best practices. Support and develop a team of EHS professionals. Collaborate across business units to standardize and elevate our safety programs. Create meaningful impact by protecting our workforce, communities and environment while enabling the delivery of therapeutic solutions and scientific advances.
Education and Experience:
Master's Degree and 6+ years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree and 8+ years of experience in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or related regulated industry
Preferred Fields of Study: Environmental Science, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Science, Engineering, or related technical field
Professional certifications highly desired (CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent)
5+ years people management and leadership experience
Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, EPA, FDA and other relevant EHS regulations and standards
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) regulations, including OSHA, EPA, FDA, and other applicable requirements within GMP, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and laboratory environments.
Comprehensive understanding of EHS management systems, regulatory compliance frameworks, audit processes, and industry best practices.
Strong expertise in risk assessment methodologies, hazard identification and analysis (e.g., JHA, HAZOP), root cause analysis, incident investigation, chemical and biological safety, and industrial hygiene principles.
Knowledge of environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, emergency response planning, crisis management, and business continuity programs.
Experience supporting laboratory operations, with multi-site and international EHS experience highly desirable.
Demonstrated leadership and people management capabilities with the ability to mentor, develop, and lead high-performing EHS professionals across multiple locations.
Proven ability to design, implement, standardize, and continuously improve global EHS programs that support regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
Advanced analytical skills with expertise in evaluating EHS metrics, identifying trends, and driving data-informed performance improvements.
Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced GMP laboratory environment.
Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate and influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills to partner with operations, quality, facilities, and senior leadership to cultivate and sustain a proactive safety culture.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and EHS management systems.
Ability to work onsite in a GMP laboratory environment, including walking production areas, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and occasional lifting and moving of objects up to 25 pounds.
Ability to work in environments with potential exposure to hazardous or infectious materials and perform effectively under pressure while maintaining high standards of integrity, accountability, and compliance.
Ability to travel up to 5% as required.
Roll is on-site in Middleton, WI and not eligible for remote or hybrid working arrangements
