Job Purpose
Reporting to the Senior Director, Commercial Asset Management, the Asset Management Associate is a valued contributor to a close-knit team that is responsible for the management and the financial performance of a renewable energy portfolio. The broader asset management team is responsible for managing a growing 6 GW portfolio of solar, wind, and battery-storage assets. The role provides an opportunity to gain exposure to all facets of the renewable energy industry and to grow within the asset management team.
The asset management team at Longroad values a strong understanding of renewable energy operations and the interest in working with a team to optimize performance. Someone with a background in engineering, finance, performance analytics, or renewable energy operations would be a good candidate for the associate position.
In addition to working with the Senior Director, the associate will work directly with the site operations teams, a project engineer, a project accountant, financial planning, treasury, and additional asset managers.
Responsibilities
Portfolio Management & Compliance
- Support Senior Director, Commercial Asset Management on all required portfolio tasks to ensure assets complete all compliance requirements.
- Maintain all portfolio files and records in the Longroad file repository.
- Complete all EIA and FERC filing requirements under direction of Director, Commercial Asset Management.
- Manage REC registrations, ownership updates, and transaction execution.
- Manage land-lease payment schedule in coordination with the Real Estate and accounting teams.
Financial Performance & Analysis
- Assist with annual budgeting and ongoing financial forecasting for operating and development-stage projects.
- Support the monthly financial performance (EBITDA) review process.
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis to evaluate project investment opportunities
- Maintain files with running accounts of various parameters that are key indicators for the asset management team (e.g. costs, generation, RECs, etc.)
Operational & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Partner with Operations and Engineering teams to monitor site performance and identify trends or risks.
- Respond to internal and external data requests, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Support the asset management and operational onboarding of developed and acquired projects.
- Partner with the treasury team to ensure complete and timely debt and vendor payments.
Reporting & Market Analysis
- Lead monthly operational and financial reporting.
- Develop data dashboards to monitor site performance, trends, and decision-making.
- Research ISO markets, resource adequacy structures, and evolving energy market requirements to inform asset strategy.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, engineering, accounting, business, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in renewable energy, power generation, finance, accounting, engineering, or performance analytics.
- Strong time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and leverage new tools, including data analytics, and AI-enabled workflows to improve efficiency.
- Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple issues simultaneously and clearly articulate key principles, concerns, and solutions to drive effective resolution.
- Ability to travel periodically to project sites and provide schedule flexibility when business needs require.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with renewable energy operations.
- General knowledge of the technical operation and performance of power projects. Gaining field experience observing technicians performing maintenance and repairs will be a part of the Associate’s first year in the role.
- Experience reviewing contracts.

Salary/Compensation
The salary range is between $90k- $110k. In addition to base salary, this role includes a corporate bonus.The position offers health, vision/dental insurance, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, accrued paid time off, life insurance and disability coverage.
