The Offshore Wind Directorate works across government and the Scottish public sector to deliver offshore renewables in Scotland at a scale and pace which is sustainable and transformational for Scotland’s Net Zero ambition, citizens, communities, environment and economy.

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of the supply chain unit, play a key role in offshore wind supply chain policy working flexibly and closely with colleagues in Investment and Ports teams to develop quality intelligence on supply chain investment opportunities.
- Establish, develop and lead relationships with key supply chain companies and provide advice and briefing for Ministers and senior officials on offshore wind supply chain and inward investment opportunities arising from our deployment of offshore wind.
Delivery of high-quality briefings, submissions, speeches, policy papers, PQs and correspondence across supply chain policy.
Use standard project management tools and processes to drive progress against Scottish Ministers’ offshore wind supply chain policy priorities, and monitor risks to delivery, reporting to relevant internal stakeholders.
- Work with UK Government on their programmes to support the offshore wind supply chain.
Work closely with colleagues in the Marine Directorate, Directorate for Energy and Climate Change and DG Economy, to ensure policy coherence and delivery of programme objectives.

Experience
- Previous experience working in a high profile policy area with a significant degree of autonomy.
- Experience of analysing a range of evidence and developing and presenting evidence-based recommendations to support/inform policy.

Working pattern
Our standard hours are 35 hours per week and we offer a range of flexible working options depending on the needs of the role, including Flexi-leave. Scottish Government staff in hybrid-compatible roles should aim to work in-person 40% of the time, either in an office or other agreed work location. Security checks
Successful candidates must complete the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), before they can be appointed. BPSS is comprised of four main pre-employment checks – Identity, Right to work, Employment History and a Criminal Record check (unspent convictions).
Internal candidates may need to gain higher security clearance than they currently hold if successful in their application.
