POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Rides Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of Zoo & Aquarium rides and serves as the first point of contact for team members, guests, and interdepartmental partners. This position monitors in park operation to ensure guest and team member safety, positive guest interactions and ride capacity goals are being met. Rides Supervisors are responsible for various staffing, administrative and training related functions, including interviewing, onboarding, scheduling, recordkeeping, on-the-job training, classroom trainings, re-certification, compliance training and auditing. This position also ensures rides are equipped 4with all required operating supplies, meeting and maintaining ride appearance standards, and regularly inspects the condition of ride areas, escalating concerns to the appropriate department or manager.

Oversees safe day-to-day operation of all Zoo & Aquarium rides, including:
- Supervising ride operation areas and ensuring proper staffing, capacity, efficiencies, crowd control and guest service standards are being met.
- Providing leadership coverage of attractions, including responding to guests, team members, operational issues and communicating with various operational partners.
- Performing all duties related to the daily operation of rides, in the absence of staff, along with opening and closing checklists, inspecting the work environment and equipment for cleanliness, safety and quality.
- Reporting any safety or deficiency concerns promptly to management staff.
- Maintaining daily ride reports and safety checklists within training program system.
- Ensuring daily staffing levels are adjusted according to park attendance.
- Maintains and helps monitor ride kiosks.
- Assisting managerial staff with ride evacuations when necessary.
- Issues and prepares counseling summaries.
- Serving as supervisor in charge, in absence of Rides Manager and Assistant Manager.
- Maintain Photo systems when necessary.

Assists with various staffing and training functions, including:
- Assisting with scheduling/conducting interviews and initial onboarding of new staff.
- Helping to oversee new hire on-the-job training by monitoring new staff throughout their training plan and maintaining accurate staff training records, teach leadership, trainer, and new hire training in a classroom style setting.
- Serving as first point of contact for staff to help address concerns and review training progress.
- Helping to oversee staff re-certification and compliance training, and occasional auditing to ensure safety and operational standards are being met.
- Motivating and coaching team members on daily performance and bringing any concerns to management.
- Reviewing time sheets to verify time is properly recorded, while communicating daily scheduling concerns or change requests.

Assists and coordinates with other Zoo and Guest Services departments with various tasks and public/private events, as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- EXPERIENCE:
- At least 1 year’s experience in a customer service related role required.
- Previous supervisory experience welcomed.
- Cash handling experience preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and evening hours, in all weather extremes, including direct sunlight.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time (including ability to walk at a given pace that is predetermined by a continuously moving ride), as well as the ability to stoop, kneel, climb, crouch or crawl.
- Can move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance. Assistance depending upon task or role.
- Ability to work at heights with or without railings or over open pits greater than 4 feet.
- Ability to use hands and fingers to grip, pinch, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Ability to talk for various lengths of time.
- Ability to see and hear clearly (including varied light conditions, depth perception, audible alarms, voice commands with background noise).
- Ability to work in wet, humid conditions including work near open bodies of water.
- Comfortable with possible exposure to bodily fluids, including blood, vomit, urine, etc.
- Ability to pass a background and drug screening, including verification of satisfactory driving record.
