Position Purpose:
|
Under the general direction of the Quality Manager, this role performs routine visual, mechanical, dimensional, and electrical inspections of incoming materials—and, when needed, supports inspections within production assembly through final system build and test. The Quality Inspector ensures parts meet required specifications, determines acceptability, and recommends disposition of non-conforming material in accordance with established procedures.
Beyond the technical work, this position plays a key role in our culture. A successful inspector approaches every lot with a mindset of accountability and rigor, turning over rocks to surface risk early, acting with urgency to keep production flowing, and communicating clearly when issues arise. This role directly supports our commitment to operating with speed, reducing defects, and helping the team stay focused on building high-quality systems the first time. Ultimately, the Quality Inspector is “down for the cause” protecting quality at the gate so the rest of the operation can move fast, stay aligned, and deliver for our customers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspect, audit, and process first article complex electro-mechanical systems, including welded assemblies of the product, for compliance to Engineering Specifications and Drawings, in accordance with receiving inspection procedures.
- Determine acceptability of receiving inspection materials using inspection tools, and disposition to warehouse or Material Review Board (MRB) as required by inspection procedures.
- Inspect material that is work-in-process (WIP), and in finished goods to verify quality compliance in accordance with procedures.
- Determine compliance of receiving inspection processes and tools used. Recommend changes or maintenance as required.
- Participate in Corrective and Preventive Actions and Manufacturing support efforts to ensure production of quality products in a fast-paced, dynamic, customer focused environment.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma efforts to move the organization towards world-class quality in operations.
- Collect and analyze quality data and information.
- Participate in and / or perform root cause analysis and verification.
- Recommend ideas that will enhance the quality and reliability of products and reduce cost of poor quality throughout the Company.
- Perform all other tasks as assigned by Senior Management.
- Work may be required outside of normal working hours.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Has basic understanding of quality processes.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to conduct tight/critical tolerance inspection using hand tools on a surface plate.
- Microsoft Office computer skills with ability to learn new programs like SAP.
- Interface with engineering and manufacturing to develop inspection processes and perform failure analysis.
- Fast learner that gains knowledge under the guidance and direction of the Senior Quality Inspector, leading to independent work.
- Able to administer MRB activity and disposition non-conforming material.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Up to 2 years minimum experience in Aerospace, Automotive, or Commercial Manufacturing with an ISO based Quality System.
- Operation of CMM experience is beneficial.
- ISO/QS/TS/AS Quality System knowledge is beneficial.
- Able to interpret and inspect to drawings, models, and sketches.
- Able to use various standard measuring and test equipment.
