We are looking for an Environmental & Safety Specialist interested in starting a SWEET career as part of our team at PIM.
Job Overview:
This position is a supporting role reporting to the Environmental, Health & Safety Manager. The incumbent supports operations for Environmental, Health & Safety matters, creating real value for the organization by supporting identifying and mitigating risk and assisting in regulatory matters.
- Support monitoring and maintaining compliance with all Federal, State, County and Local Environmental, Health and Safety Regulations, including OSHA, NJDEP, NJDCA and MCUA, in all actions, procedures and policies
- Perform weekly, monthly and annual inspection for EHS Compliance
- Assist with maintaining detailed log of incidents across all sites
- Attend Safety Committee meetings, take minutes and ensure necessary paperwork is prepared for meetings
- Provide input to develop and implement necessary EHS Policies & Procedures
- Follow PIM Brands GMP and EHS Policies and Procedures and monitor associates for adherence with the same.
- All other duties assigned by management
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 2 years in Safety, Security, and Environmental Compliance in manufacturing; Food & Beverage experience preferred
- OSHA 30 Certification; OSHA 511 preferred
- AED/CPR/First Aid certified with medical experience
- Certifications in EHS topics such as LOTO, Forklift, Confined Space
- Industrial Hygiene expertise (airborne hazards: dust, chemicals, mold, bacteria)
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA General Industry and environmental standards
- Fire Safety experience
- Applied Ergonomics knowledge
- Risk assessment and facility improvement skills
- Security principles in industrial settings
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
- Influencing peers and strong communication skills
- Willing to work all shifts; self-motivated and independent with a sense of urgency
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
- Bachelor’s degree in biological science chemistry, microbiology, food science or manufacturing strongly preferred
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Minimum 5 year’s experience in QA/QC, food laboratory and/or food and beverage production required
- Experience in the implementation of SQF Level 2 or 3 Program
- HACCP and SQF Certified
- Food industry experience required
- Computer proficiency and skills in EXCEL, Word, Microsoft Office and other software programs
- Must possess excellent analytical, problem solving and organization skills
- Willing to be trained
- Ability to read, speak, and write English is essential, fluent in Spanish and/or English are preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Job will be performed in an office environment with significant time spent on the plant floors across multiple sites. When on the plant floor, it is representative of a large, busy manufacturing operation with loud operating equipment, constant movement and traffic flow of motorized equipment. Hair net, beard net, assigned work uniform, hearing protection, eye and face protection and gloves are among the GMP and PPE required apparel that must be worn, if indicated, on the plant floor.
