Job Summary:
The Environmental Specialist supports the facility’s HSE Department by ensuring all federal, state, and local environmental regulations are understood, implemented, and maintained. This role performs advanced technical fieldwork, oversees key compliance activities, and supports the management of environmental permits and reporting requirements. Primary responsibilities include environmental sampling, waste management oversight, regulatory training, and maintaining permit conditions for air, water, and waste programs. The Environmental Specialist plays a critical role in sustaining compliance, supporting continuous improvement, and guiding facility personnel in meeting environmental expectations.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

Support facility-wide Environmental and Safety initiatives, including policy development, implementation, and training program creation or delivery.
Assist the facility staff with waste acceptance, storage & inspection, and offloading and accurate completion of associated paperwork.
Conduct air emissions monitoring and source sampling to ensure permit requirements are met.
Collect, analyze, and document wastewater and stormwater samples in accordance with regulatory and permit standards.
Maintain accurate records and assist the facility staff with data submission to regulatory agencies to ensure compliance.
Deliver RCRA and DOT Hazardous Waste training to facility personnel.
Assist with managing LDEQ permits, including renewals, modifications, and ongoing compliance tasks.
Participate in audits, inspections, and assessments.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Analyze EHS performance metrics and recommend improvements.

Qualifications:
Required:

3-5 years of experience in Environmental roles
Knowledge of EPA, DOT Hazardous Waste (49CFR), and LDEQ regulations and implementation
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
Ability to interpret and follow environmental processes and regulatory procedures

Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety & Health, or related field; equivalent experience or relevant coursework may be considered
