- Ensure all HPSI safety procedures, rules, and regulations are communicated, understood, and followed by personnel.
- Shadow an HSE Coordinator during worksite inspections to identify unsafe practices or conditions and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare and process training tests for orientation, grade assessments, and input results into Excel spreadsheets.
- Operate the tag machine to create ship access tags, issue PPE as needed and manage inventory of HSE supplies.
- Assist with shipboard and shipyard cleanup to maintain safe access areas.
- Scan and maintain confined space documents in the database.
- Attend weekly safety meetings to learn about and track safety concerns across the yard.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned by the HSE team.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of OSHA regulations and safety practices.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professional and proactive attitude toward workplace safety.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Environmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes and smoke. Work may be executed indoors or outdoors and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions.
