Summary
The Assistant Manager - EHS (Hueneme Port, CA) position manages and coordinates safety and programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and an accident-free work environment for all employees. They implement accident prevention programs and coordinate and conduct trainings for employees at the facility.
Compensation Range
$86,000 - $96,000 per year (Subject to Compensation Study Upon Candidate Selection)
Responsibilities
Manage safety programs
Encourages employees and supervisors to report any injury that occurs on the job immediately
Encourages employees and supervisors to report all unsafe conditions immediately and schedules or coordinates repairs as soon as possible
Coordinates with other departments heads on design and construction of new equipment, facilities, and work methods to ensure compliance with safety policies and regulations
Identifies potential safety hazards at facility, reports hazards and recommendations for eliminating/reducing to management
Maintains thorough knowledge of federal and CAL OSHA regulations and web sites, maintains up-to-date knowledge of safety codes and regulations, and distributes and/or posts new or revised safety standards that affect the company
Investigates all accidents and injuries, then recommends and/or coordinates corrective actions
Supervises, controls, and monitors fire prevention and firefighting activities
Plans, implements, communicates, and monitors Rail and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, federal, and OSHA rules and regulations
Implements and monitors the safety programs to reduce frequency of accidents and injuries ; assists in minimizing overall workers' compensation costs
Training, Compliance Audit & Reporting
Develop and/or update safety training programs designed to instruct employees in general safe work practices plus specific instruction with regard to hazards unique to any job assignment
Provides training to new employees
Follow up on corrective actions to verify they are effective and being used
Attend company meetings when relevant to safety
Other duties as assigned relative to safety

7 - 11 Years of Experience in Safety, Workers Compensation, Training Preferred
4 - 7 Years of Supervisory experience Preferred
Hazmat, IIPP, OSHA Certified Training Preferred
