We are seeking a Corporate Environmental Manager to join our team.
How will you play an integral role?
The Corporate Environmental Manager maintains compliance of Unifi’s domestic manufacturing operations with Federal, State, and Local environmental laws and regulations. Maintains Global Recycle Standard/Recycled Claim Standard and SCS Recycled Content certifications. Assist global operations as requested.

- Sustainability Certification Knowledge – Familiar with the implementation and requirements of the Global Recycle Standard (GRS) and Recycled Claim Standard (RCS), ensuring adherence to sustainability guidelines and regulatory frameworks.
- Clear Communication – Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex environmental information clearly to diverse audiences and stakeholders.
- Regulatory Expertise – In-depth knowledge of Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations, ensuring compliance across all facets of environmental management and operations.
- Technical Proficiency – Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to create reports, track data, and communicate findings with efficiency and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:

Supervise and ensure completion of wastewater discharge permit monitoring requirements for all company locations.

Oversee daily operations of the dye house wastewater pretreatment plant and serve as the operator in responsible charge.

Manage biosolids removal and farmland application disposal programs in compliance with state permit requirements.

Supervise daily operations of the state-certified wastewater laboratory and laboratory technician; maintain laboratory certification and compliance.

Negotiate environmental permit conditions and address compliance issues with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.

Serve as the primary liaison between the company and environmental regulators.

Assist plant personnel with waste management, hazardous waste handling, and compliance with applicable environmental regulations.

Update, apply for, and maintain all required environmental permits for manufacturing facilities.

Prepare, submit, and maintain regulatory reports in compliance with EPCRA, CERCLA, RCRA, the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, and other applicable environmental regulations.

Manage certification and compliance programs including Global Recycle Standard (GRS), Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) and APR.

Compile and submit Transaction Certificate requests to certifying bodies under GRS and RCS programs in support of customer requirements.
Are you qualified for the position?
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in a science-related curriculum (e.g., Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Engineering) is required.
- North Carolina Grade II Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification is required or the ability to obtain it within a specified timeframe.
Experience
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in environmental management or wastewater treatment is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
