DescriptionUL Solutions Renewables is looking for an Intern to join our Wind Asset Advisory team in Lyon, France, or Ansoáin, Spain to help provide solutions to support wind farm operational success for our customers.
Responsibilities- You will get an overview of all types of wind technical expertise necessary for a developer, an operator, a lender, or an investor during the complete lifecycle of a project while focusing your day-to-day activities mostly on the operating assets.
- You will execute some tasks within lifetime evaluation projects by analyzing data and preparing reports for clients.
- You will execute these projects according to the ,defined methodology and guidelines.
- You will implement a tool to assess OPEX costs for operating wind farms based on indicators that you will have to extract from our database.
- You will also support the Lifetime Evaluation team with some specific activities such as back-cast studies, statistical analysis or task automation.
Responsibility
- Execute lifetime evaluation calculations, including wind resource assessment, 10-min SCADA data analysis, monthly operating reports reviews, evaluation of remaining useful life of structural components following UL-4143 standard, load calculations, damage equivalent loads, and fatigue assessment, uncertainty calculations
- Develop an OPEX tool in coordination with engineers from the 4 Asset Advisory service lines at global level (work involving 4 regions: EMEA, APAC, NA & LATAM)
- Gain experience in different wind turbine design standards such as IEC61400-1: Wind turbine generator systems, GL: Guideline for the Certification of Wind Turbines, or DIBt: Richtlinie für Windenergieanlagen
- ,Other duties related to lifetime evaluatiothe n such as 3rd party reviews, recalculations, etc. Assist with any other Renewables advisory activities
Qualifications- Ongoing Master of Science degree in a quantitative field (Mechanical, Physical Science, Engineering, Renewable Energy) from an accredited University or Engineering School;
- Knowledgeable in a programming language(s) for use in statistics and data visualization, preferably in R, Python and/or MATLAB (some internal tools are developed in these languages);
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word);
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills;
- Detail oriented;
- Ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
- Strong team spirit and proactive attitude;
- Fluent in English and at least one additional language: French, German or Spanish
