We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Institutional Advancement to lead all philanthropic efforts for the Zoo. In this role, you will partner closely with senior leadership to plan and execute capital and planned giving initiatives, inspire and guide a talented advancement team, and personally cultivate meaningful relationships with donors who make our mission possible.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will bring a proven record of philanthropic leadership, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to align fundraising strategy with institutional priorities.
What You'll Do
- Responsible for all philanthropic activity related to the Zoo.
- Work with the Senior Vice President of External Relations and President and CEO to plan, cultivate for and implement capital and planned giving campaigns.
- Lead department personnel as a motivator and coach, work along staff to ensure goals are reached.
- Steward a portfolio of Zoo donors and directly participates in gift cultivation.
- Oversee grant proposal submission and report preparation deadlines.
- Supervise the preparation of an annual fundraising business plan including goals, objectives, strategies and create and oversee budget.
- Administer the annual fundraising plan to include monitoring objectives and operating within the parameters of the department budget.
- Serve as the campaign manager for major fundraising campaigns.
- Provide support to the Zoo's Special Event Team as required to help meet attendance and revenue targets.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of ten (10) years' professional work experience in fundraising with a strong professional background in capital campaign with planned giving experience is highly desirable.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a related field. CFRE preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in "moves management" style of fundraising and in-depth knowledge of fundraising databases and software required.
- Prior experience with staff management and supervision required.
- Demonstrated ability and skills in budgeting and strategic planning.
Additional Information
- This is a full-time, approximately 40 hours/week position; weekend and evenings may be required due to deadlines and fundraising events.
