Hours: Part-time with a tentative end date in late fall, pending business operations and individual performance (flexible schedule of approximately 24 hours or more per week including weekends and holidays)
Pay Rate: $15.99/hour

Summary:
Lee G. Simmons Wildlife Safari Park is seeking guest-first, hospitality-focused Guest Services Shift Supervisors with strong customer service skills who can confidently and professionally respond to a wide variety of situations to ensure guest satisfaction. This position plays a critical role in shaping first and lasting impressions by warmly welcoming visitors, answering questions, assisting with the sale of general admission and memberships, and consistently following all ticketing and membership policies and procedures. Teammates work across all Guest Services areas including, but not limited to, cashier areas, food and beverage locations, and retail areas. This position reports directly to the Wildlife Safari Park Assistant Manager and works collaboratively to deliver safe, engaging, and memorable experiences for every guest.
Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Be trained in all Guest Services areas and be responsible for the coordination of the supervision of the areas including, but not limited to, Admissions, Membership, Food and Beverage and Retail.
- Assist with training, coordinating/scheduling and supervising staff.
- Coach crew members to offer extraordinary guest service and memories for all guests.
- Supervise stocking stores for optimal performance to meet and exceed sales goals.
- Adhere to all Cass County Health Department rules and regulations for food service.
- Provide general information about prices, location of specific attractions, and safety rules.
- Accurately operate cash registers, credit card reader, and Point-of-Sale system during transactions.
- Supervise staff on the following tasks: cleaning, morning set-up, daytime re-stocking and closing process.
- Ensure cleanliness standards are maintained in food, retail and all guest-facing facilities.
- Assist with ongoing on the job training & re-training staff.
- Accurately prepare daily paperwork and submit paperwork to the Cash Office.
- Ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures by Wildlife Park guests and staff.
- Address guest and staff concerns and problems with tact and professionalism.
- Report all safety related, animal related, mechanical issues, or other incidents to a Wildlife Park Assistant Manager.
- Represent the Wildlife Park in a positive and professional manner to maintain an open and accepting atmosphere.
- Ensure all employees are in approved Wildlife Safari Park uniform with shirt tucked in and wearing name badge.
- Ensure proper cash handling procedures are followed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong customer service skills and able to respond to a variety of situations to accommodate reasonable requests.
- Ability to work with a diverse population.
- Ability to proactively engage with staff and guests and maintain enthusiasm and professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
- Possess good math and cash handling abilities and skills.
- Good public speaking and communication skills.
- Ability to function independently or with other Wildlife Park Supervisors to control guest and personnel issues.
- Ability to reliably attend scheduled shifts and meet attendance expectations.
- Ability to perform job duties satisfactorily in accordance with Zoo policies, procedures, and performance standards.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Must be able to work at least 24 hours each week during the summer season.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays during the summer season.
- May be required to work some special evening events.
Candidates are required to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
Experience:
- Prior guest services experience is required for this position.
- Previous supervisory experience is required.
- Prior cash handling experience preferred but not required.
- Bilingual language skills are a plus.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Will sometimes work extended/odd hours including weekends, holidays, and some evening events.
- Work is done in both indoor and outdoor settings.
- Must be able to stand, sit, kneel, bend, twist, reach above head, and climb.
- Will lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds using safe and proper lifting methods.
- Will work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, rain, and snow.
