Description
The Commercial Events Marketing Specialist supports the company’s commercial growth efforts by helping plan, coordinate, and execute marketing events that increase brand awareness and support lead generation. Working closely with the Event Marketing Manager, this role assists in identifying relevant industry, regional, and local events and helps ensure each event is organized, well-executed, and aligned with business goals within the commercial solar market. This position collaborates with sales and marketing team members to coordinate event logistics, staffing, materials, and digital promotion for both in-person and virtual events. The Commercial Events Marketing Specialist balances hands-on execution with thoughtful planning, supporting onsite event delivery, inventory management, and follow-up activities while gaining exposure to broader commercial marketing strategies and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions
Event Strategy, Planning, & Research
- Support the marketing team in developing and executing the commercial events strategy
- Research, evaluate, and recommend local, regional, and industry events aligned with commercial solar growth goals
- Analyze industry trends and regional opportunities to identify high-impact events
- Assist with event planning, timelines, prioritization, and promotional planning
- Recommend event tactics and promotional items that align with brand standards and target audiences
Event Execution, Logistics, & Inventory
- Plan and manage assigned commercial marketing events from preparation through post-event wrap-up.
- Coordinate and assemble event materials, displays, signage, and promotional items.
- Maintain and manage inventory of event marketing materials, ensuring accuracy and availability.
- Coordinate reorders, refills, storage, and transportation of event assets as needed.
- Travel within the assigned region(s) as required to support onsite event execution.
Staffing, Sales, & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Schedule and coordinate internal staff participation for commercial events
- Communicate event expectations, schedules, and logistics to participating team members
- Build strong working relationships with the Commercial Sales Team
- Identify opportunities for sales involvement in trade shows, speaking engagements, and networking events
- Support sales goals by ensuring events are positioned for lead generation and relationship building
Digital/Virtual Events & Marketing Support
- Support digital marketing efforts related to commercial events, including webinars and virtual events.
- Assist with planning and execution of quarterly or ad-hoc commercial webinars.
- Create social media content promoting commercial event participation.
- Prepare and distribute digital materials to event partners and attendees.
- Support additional marketing initiatives and projects as needed.

Skills/Qualifications
Experience
- 2+ years of proven experience in professional event planning and execution or a related field, or equivalent experience and education to be considered.
- Experience in the solar industry or a related sector (energy, home services, construction) (preferred).
- Experience coordinating multiple events or brand activations simultaneously.
Technical Proficiency
- Proficiency in Google Suite/Google Workspace (Slides, Sheets, Calendar, Forms, Docs, Gmail) or related software.
- Familiarity with CRM and CMS systems such as Salesforce, HubSpot, and Monday (preferred).
- Experience creating digital marketing materials, including promotional content, branding concepts, and basic graphic design assets.
- Familiarity with developing event-related advertising copy and promotional messaging.
- Comfortable working with common marketing tools and platforms (e.g., social media, presentation tools, email or digital distribution platforms).

Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer (frequent).
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times (frequent).
- Ability to type at least 40 words per minute (frequent).
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
Compensation & Benefits
- This is a full-time exempt salaried (not overtime eligible) position with an expected base annual salary range $55,000 - $60,000 (Depending on Qualifications & Experience).
- Hybrid: This position is eligible to work a combination of in-office work at AES headquarters (St. Paul, MN) and remote/work from home eligibility: (*Note: this is subject to change by management based on company and business needs, may or may not be eligible until 90+ days of employment/training period completion, will be determined and agreed on by management and employee, and contingent upon employees being in good standing).
- Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (company core hours). This position and the working schedule offers flexibility and may require additional hours outside of normal working hours including but not limited to mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- PTO accrual per hour will be .03847, up to 80 hours annually (120 hours annually after year 1).
