DescriptionPOSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: DISTRIBUTION CENTER ASSISTANT MANAGER
Grand Canyon Conservancy (GCC) is the official nonprofit partner of Grand Canyon National Park. As the official philanthropic and collaborative partner of Grand Canyon National Park, Grand Canyon Conservancy’s mission is to inspire generations of park champions to cherish and support the natural and cultural wonder of Grand Canyon. GCC raises private funds, operates retail shops within the park, and provides premier educational programs on the region's natural and cultural history.
GCC is currently seeking a Distribution Center (DC) Assistant Manager to assist the DC manager in overseeing a safe, secure Distribution Center operation, including order processing, picking, packaging, shipping, and receiving. This position will assist in managing direct reports to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient deliveries to GCC’s interpretive sales stores, e-commerce, wholesale, and events.
The Distribution Center Assistant Manager position is a full-time, benefit-eligible, non-exempt position based at the South Rim of Grand Canyon. The position reports to the DC Manager.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties vary with the workload and could include, but are not limited to, the tasks listed below.
Distribution Strategy:
• Assist the DC lead positions in their areas of responsibility, E-commerce, Delivery, and Receiving.
• Work with the DC Manager to identify areas of opportunity in the DC and help implement solutions.
• In the DC Manager's absence, the position will help maintain wholesale orders and invoice processing procedures.
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with customers, vendors, delivery drivers, NPS personnel, store, and DC staff.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of all DC areas, including receiving, storage, supply, and office areas
Inventory Management and Quality Control:
• Assist Store and DC management to ensure annual inventory and regular cycle counts are coordinated and executed throughout the year
• Collaborate with the DC manager to ensure proper receipt and processing of deliveries, and that the quality of merchandise is met.
• Assist in the picking and delivery from the DC to store locations on a set schedule,
and ensure products are transferred accurately
• Help with ordering DC and store supplies and distributing them accordingly.
• Identify and communicate supply chain, transportation, and security opportunities to the DC team and management
Team Management:
• Lead and coach a team of five to eight staff to achieve daily objectives within GCC guidelines
• Assist the DC manager to ensure employees are up to date with GCC strategic goals and are following safety standards (OSHA compliant)
• Assist the DC manager with any annual evaluations on direct reports
• Coach, mentor, and provide corrective action as needed.
• In the DC manager's absence, maintain and process employees' payroll.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Standing for long periods, up to ten hours each day
• Frequent, extended periods of repetitive tasks such as pricing or rolling posters
• Lift 50 lbs. Repeatedly and up to 75 lbs. occasionally
• The work is indoors at elevations more than 7,000 feet above sea level
• Working at a computer station processing orders
• Ability to drive a GCC vehicle and operate a forklift
TOTAL COMPENSATION
This is a full-time, benefit-eligible, non-exempt position with a target salary of $22/hour. If needed, rental housing on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon owned by GCC may be available at a nominal cost to the employee; however, this position is not eligible for reimbursement of any relocation expenses.

QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• One to three years of Distribution Center experience.
• One to three years of supervisory experience.
• 18 years of age and hold a valid driver’s license
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including weekends and holidays.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND CHARACTERISTICS
• Strong leadership and management skills to oversee and lead a team effectively. Previous supervisor experience preferred
• Working knowledge of computerized inventory management systems
• Experience operating forklifts or ability to obtain certification as required
• Understanding of a supply chain environment
• Ability to multitask with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to manage relationships with employees, vendors, and customers, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and good judgment
• Demonstrated ability to promote and maintain a positive work environment
