Education Officer at Sydney Zoo
Located in the heart of Western Sydney, Sydney Zoo strives to showcase a broad range of native and exotic animals using technology and advanced exhibit design, with a strong focus on animal welfare, conservation, and educating our visitors about animals and their habitats. Environmental and social awareness play a vital role in our message that highlights the indigenous culture and human influence on the environment.
The Position
The Education Officeris responsible forimplementation and presentation of lively and engaging education programs to Sydney Zoo audiences of all ages, including school groups and the general public.
The Sydney Zoo Education Program encompasses the delivery of Zoo animal-based and sustainability focused programs. The position will be to work outdoors in a variety of settings to engage with the general public as well as deliver specific content for groups and school bookings.
We are seekinghighly engaging, passionate and energetic educators with experience delivering curriculum-based programs to school aged students.
This role may be to work some weekends and public holidays.
Skills, Knowledge, and Relevant Experience
Essential
- A degree in education, zoology, biology, environmental science or a related field (desirable)
- Proven experience and passion fordelivering information to groups
- Proficient in computers and Microsoft suite of programs (desirable)
- Previous experience/qualifications caring for and handling a variety of domestic and exotic animals (desirable)
- First Aid Certificate (desirable)
- Working with children checks or willing to undertake
