Position Overview:
GZA is seeking an Environmental Project Manager with at least 7 years of relevant environmental engineering/consulting experience to join our Norwood, Massachusetts, team. As an Environmental Project Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of the technical aspects of projects; will manage environmental investigation and remediation projects so they are completed safely, on time, and within scope and budget; and will be involved with marketing and networking events. You will work with a staff of interrelated professionals dedicated to providing high-level technical services on complex environmental projects and will represent GZA with clients throughout proposal, contract, and project performance phases. The ideal candidate for this position is a seasoned environmental consulting professional with the motivation and desire to foster technical excellence and strong relationships, both internally and externally, within a collaborative work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee environmental site investigation and remediation projects from planning through completion
- Mentor a team of existing project engineers and scientists
- Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and deliverables
- Perform data analysis, calculations, and interpretation related to environmental sampling, remediation performance, and regulatory compliance
- Manage project contractual and financial issues (including terms of agreement, changes in scope, billing process)
- Prepare technical reports, proposals, work plans, and regulatory submittals
- Serve as the primary client contact, maintaining strong professional relationships
- Support business development efforts through networking, involvement in professional organizations, client meetings, and participation in marketing initiatives
- Conduct and oversee fieldwork, including soil, groundwater, and vapor sampling and remediation system operation and maintenance, as necessary
- GZA emphasizes a One Company environment, and as a member of our team, you may be asked to assist on projects and tasks outside of your primary responsibilities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Geology/Hydrogeology, or Environmental Sciences (advanced degree is a plus)
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant environmental consulting or engineering experience (familiarity with the Massachusetts Contingency Plan/applicable Massachusetts laws and regulations is a plus)
- Experience with the development, design, preparation, and management of environmental investigation, compliance, and remediation projects
- Demonstrated performance of data analysis, problem solving and strong organizational skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated professional judgment, consistency, strong attention to detail, and background of high-quality work products
- Self-starter, able to complete tasks with minimal supervision and direction that takes ownership of their projects
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong understanding of field sampling and investigative protocols
- Experience preparing well written reports within budget that demonstrate technical knowledge (construction bid specification experience is a plus)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and environmental data management software
- Willingness to perform fieldwork as needed
- Possess or has completed 40-hour and 8-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training
- LSP, PE, or other professional registration (or pursuing such) is preferred

The base salary for this position may range between $95,000.00 to $140,000.00. The actual base salary and total compensation will depend on many factors, including location, candidate experience, education, professional licensure, and other qualifications.
