Job Description: RSi is looking to fill a Battery Technician Foreman position to support our NASA customer. The Battery Technician Foreman supervises the work relating to industrial battery systems used in facility operations (e.g., backup power UPS, emergency lighting, electrical energy storage).
Job Duties include but are not limited to:
- Lead battery maintenance, installation, and testing operations
- Uninterruptible Power Supplies
- Rectifiers
- Battery Banks (Batteries and Battery Chargers & Battery Storage)
- Supervise technicians handling batteries (lead-acid, lithium, etc.) and related power systems
- Plan and schedule preventive maintenance for battery rooms and backup power infrastructure
- Ensure safe handling of hazardous battery components and compliance with environmental rules
- Coordinate with electrical craft and facility power managers on outages and system upgrades
Qualifications and Experience: In general, the work of the Battery technician foreman requires rounded training and experience in the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of industrial battery systems and associated power equipment, usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
Work Environment: Indoor and outdoor working environments. May include test areas, test stands, laboratories, chambers, machine shops, cold and hot weather environments, heights, and confined spaces.
Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):
- Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and working in awkward positions to access work areas
- The use of hand and power tools and equipment associated with the position.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Wear and properly use required PPE for all assigned tasks.
Other Essential Functions (with or without reasonable accommodation):
- Strong understanding of battery technologies, charging systems, and electrical safety
- Crew leadership experience with ability to train and direct technicians
- Knowledge of NFPA, OSHA, and NASA electrical safety standards
- Ability to read schematics, perform diagnostics, and maintain records
Clearance: Must meet eligibility for a Public Trust background investigation for government issues credentials and IT access/applicants must be able to pass a security background check per Redstone Arsenal/MSFC requirements.
