In this role, you will lead and oversee all aspects of safety on large-scale renewable energy projects, including solar and battery storage. You will ensure a safe work environment for employees, contractors, and visitors by monitoring compliance, conducting inspections, and implementing proactive safety programs. This role requires collaboration with project leadership, trade partners, and field teams to promote a positive safety culture. You will be responsible for site-specific safety planning, incident investigations, and regulatory reporting while traveling extensively to project sites across the U.S. This position offers an opportunity to make a tangible impact on safety performance and contribute to the success of high-profile renewable energy projects.
Accountabilities
- Monitor and communicate safety programs with on-site employees and trade partners, ensuring compliance and promoting a positive safety culture
- Conduct regular safety and health inspections, maintain compliance reports, and track findings for follow-up
- Coordinate with project leadership to ensure the proper use of protective equipment, availability of first aid materials, and posting of safety documents on-site
- Investigate incidents and accidents, recommend corrective actions, and maintain records for OSHA and regulatory purposes
- Enforce safety policies and minimize hazards through proactive oversight and, when necessary, disciplinary measures
- Lead and coordinate weekly safety toolbox meetings for all on-site personnel
- Develop and implement site-specific safety plans for individual projects
- Assist in task-specific work planning, audits, and performance evaluations to ensure adherence to safety procedures
- Maintain detailed records of all safety meetings, inspections, programs, and compliance documentation
- Collaborate with employees, trade partners, and project stakeholders to foster a culture of safety awareness and accountability
Requirements
5+ years of experience managing safety on solar, battery storage, or energy-related construction projectsAbility to manage safety orientations, substance abuse programs, and incident investigations on-siteExperience working with project teams, trade partners, and ownership representativesExcellent communication, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skillsAbility to travel extensively, up to 100% nationwideBachelor’s degree in a related field preferredOSHA 500 and CHST certifications preferredBilingual (English-Spanish) preferred
