Program: Contaminated Site Remediation & Redevelopment – Division of Environmental Evaluation & Remediation Review - Bureau of Environmental Evaluation & Risk Assessment
Program Description: The mission of the Contaminated Site Remediation & Redevelopment program is to reduce the number of contaminated sites in New Jersey to ensure the protection of public health and the environment and ready sites for redevelopment. Project Description: Many metals can occur naturally in the environment and are found in soils across New Jersey. Understanding regional levels of naturally occurring metals in the environment is an important line of evidence when conducting a natural background investigation at a contaminated site. The Department has conducted several research studies evaluating ambient concentrations of metals in NJ soils. The data exists in several different reports and formats and would like to create a single comprehensive data set. The Bureau of Environmental Evaluation and Risk Assessment (BEERA) is looking to compile the data into the same format and create a geospatial data layer in ArcPro. There is also the potential for a web map to be created and made available to the public via ArcGIS online. This would assist in determining potential background concentrations of metals at sites undergoing remediation. Specific to the Position: proficient in ArcGIS Pro, has experience with ArcGIS Online, and is knowledgeable with Microsoft Suite programs such as Excel and Access
