Position Summary:
LACI’s Transportation Electrification Partnership (TEP), formed in May 2018, is an unprecedented multi-year partnership among local, regional and state stakeholders to accelerate progress towards transportation electrification and zero emissions goods movement in the Greater LA region in advance of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. TEP sits at the intersection of policy, partnerships, pilots, and implementation, helping translate ambitious climate goals into real-world action in advance of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Working closely with the Director of Transportation Electrification, the TEP Coordinator plays a critical role in advancing TEP’s Zero Emissions 2028 Roadmap. The Coordinator supports both the strategic and operational execution of TEP, contributing to process and content. This role is ideal for someone energized by cross-sector collaboration and eager to learn and help shape how Greater Los Angeles delivers on its transportation electrification goals.
What You’ll Do:
- Keep the Transportation Electrification Partnership Organized and on Track: : Coordinate day-to-day logistics for TEP, including maintaining TEP partner contacts in Salesforce, issuing calendar invites, conducting outreach to partners to facilitate engagement in meetings, and coordinating across teams to arrange logistics for in-person, virtual and hybrid events, among other responsibilities. Support logistics for special events such as TEP convenings, coordinating with internal and external partners, as appropriate.
- Amplify TEP’s Reach: Maintain TEP’s online dashboard, making both quantitative and qualitative updates on a timely, quarterly basis, coordinating with TEP Director and TEP partners as needed to secure information and verify data. Support the publishing of LACI’s bi-monthly Zero Emission Transportation Newsletter, writing content on relevant LACI programming, monitoring transportation electrification policy and technology developments to include, and shepherding the newsletter through the LACI editing process, in close coordination with the Director and the MarCom team, to publication.
- Advance TEP’s Impact: Support TEP Roadmap Working Group Meetings to advance progress towards TEP’s 2028 Roadmap goals; this includes identifying strategic meeting topics and guest speakers, conducting primary and secondary research on relevant policy, business model and technology issues related to mode shift, preparing meeting materials, hosting the meetings and facilitating dialogue, and capturing key takeaways. Collaborate with colleagues across LACI and other duties as needed in support of the Market Transformation team. Support on specific research and grant implementation projects as needed. Support grant fundraising as needed (e.g. drafting sections of RFP responses).
Why You’re Right for the Job:
- You’re ambitious and driven. This comes primarily from your desire to create meaningful change through your work. Due to this inner drive, you have a tendency to take projects further, faster, and you’re willing to go above and beyond to get the job done well.
- You care about the details. It doesn’t intimidate you to be responsible for planning multiple meetings with multiple stakeholders, while juggling multiple research, process and content projects. That’s a lot of “multiples”, but your organizational skills and strategies will set you up for success.
- You can say a lot with a little. Whether it’s a research project, meeting notes or emails -- you know how to synthesize large amounts of complex information into short, direct and clear messages. You’re an excellent communicator, in person, on the phone and in writing.
- You’re a curious person. This curiosity shows up in your listening skills, your interactions with people, your love of research, and your willingness to ask questions. If you don’t know the answer to something, you’re not afraid to admit it and continue searching until you find it.
- Learning about TEP excites you. You’re not just looking for any Program Assistant role. You’re applying because you’re passionate about climate change. The idea of being a part of something that could make an impact on the LA region and set precedent across the country is a key motivator.
