About the Role
SOLARCYCLE is looking for a Billing & Collections Specialist who is comfortable owning the full collections process while maintaining strong, professional customer relationships.
This role sits at the intersection of finance, operations, and customer experience. You’ll be responsible for ensuring customers are billed accurately, payments are collected on time, and issues are resolved quickly—without burning bridges. What You’ll Do
Collections
- Own the collections process with our customers
- Proactively follow up on past-due invoices via email and phone
- Secure payment commitments and ensure timely resolution
- Navigate objections, disputes, and delays with confidence and professionalism
- Escalate high-risk or long-overdue accounts as needed
Billing & Invoicing
- Generate and send accurate invoices aligned with contracts and pricing
- Ensure invoices are issued on time and include proper backup
- Identify and resolve billing discrepancies that may delay payment
Client Communication
- Serve as the main point of contact for billing and payment-related questions
- Clearly explain charges, balances, and payment expectations
- Build trust with customers while setting firm expectations around payment terms
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales, Operations, and Finance to resolve disputes quickly
- Partner with internal teams to prevent recurring billing or payment issues
- Provide feedback to improve billing clarity and collections efficiency
Reporting & Process Improvement
- Monitor AR aging and collections performance
- Maintain accurate notes and records in accounting/CRM systems
- Help build and refine collections processes in a growing startup environment
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years of experience in collections, accounts receivable, or billing
- Proven experience handling collections conversations directly with clients
- Comfortable following up persistently and asking for payment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Nice to Have
- B2B or startup experience
- Familiarity with tools like QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar
