Compliance with the processing requirements of Chapter 215.422 F.S. is mandatory. Persistent failure to comply with this section by any agency of the state shall constitute good cause for discharge of employees duly found responsible, or predominantly responsible, for failure to comply.
Under the direction of the park manager, supervises the park staff in the management of the area’s resources, facilities and public use.
ADMINISTRATION
Participates in employee training, supervision and discipline. Supervises the staff in fiscal and purchasing procedures and policies. Ensures property procedures and policies are applied. Participates in the administration of the collective bargaining agreement and maintains good employee relations. Coordinates work schedules and assignments. Checks reports, fee collection and miscellaneous records prepared by the staff.
VISITOR SERVICES
Coordinates interpretive programs, activities and schedules for park unit. Meets the public, interprets the resources, facilities and services, resolves problems and provides for good public relations. Supervises the staff in providing visitor services.
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Participates in the supervision of resource management programs applicable to park unit including water level management, native species propagation, erosion control and exotic removal.
MAINTENANCE
Identifies maintenance needs through daily inspections. Maintains maintenance schedules and supervises the staff to ensure maintenance on a daily, weekly and yearly basis is regularly performed. Supervises and assists with the maintenance of buildings, roads, bridges, trails, water systems, wastewater systems, vehicles, equipment, etc.
PROTECTION
Ensures park rules are enforced pertaining to all natural, historical and archaeological facilities and resources and use thereof, for the enjoyment of the visitor.
Performs other related duties as required.

Long Key State Park is looking for a self-motivated park service professional to fill a Resident Assistant Park Manager position. This Resident Assistant Park Manager position requires an individual with strong leadership ability, park maintenance, and resource management experience. The Park Manager and Assistant Park Manager oversee both Long Key State Park and Curry Hammock State Park. Between the two parks, the career staff of 13 consists of: Park Manager, Assistant Park Manager, 7 Park Rangers, 2 Administrative Assistants, and 2 Park Services Specialists. There are also 4 OPS staff between both parks and a successful resident volunteer program at each. This Assistant Park Manager supervises the park staff and participates in the management of the area’s resources, facilities and public use under existing rules and operating policies to provide the proper levels of administration, resource management, visitor services, protection and maintenance. The applicant must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays.
