What We Can Achieve Together:
The Coastal Restoration Program Assistant will assist the Coastal Restoration Team with scientific field sampling and data processing. Field sampling surveys include video fish detection, juvenile fish beach seines, artificial reef monitoring, and water quality monitoring. Some fieldwork is conducted on our research vessel in nearshore waterways. Data processing will include conducting and interpreting statistical analyses as well as data visualization, report writing, and literature review. This seasonal position will provide vital assistance to ensure all projects are completed efficiently.
This is a 6-month position beginning on May 4th, 2026, and ending on October 30th, 2026. It is a full-time, temporary position (35 hours per week). The Coastal Restoration Program Assistant is supervised by the Coastal Restoration Science Technician and Coastal Restoration Project Manager. This is an hourly position with a rate between $20-22 per hour, depending on experience.

What You’ll Bring:
High school diploma or GED and 6 months of related experience
Experience operating various types of equipment in a safe and efficient manner
Must be able to obtain related licenses or certifications as required. (e.g. Driver’s License, First Aid, CPR).
Desired Qualifications
Recent graduate of Biology, Conservation, Environmental Studies, Marine Science, Ichthyology, or related field, or equivalent.
Coursework or experience with biostatistics, data analysis, and data visualization
Coursework or experience with programming languages like R or Python
Coursework or experience with GIS
Knowledge of aquatic ecosystems, fish assemblages and/or estuarine biology
Boating experience.
Experience with scientific research and data entry.
Experience working in a lab setting and with a microscope.
Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
Proven ability to deal with the general public in a friendly, outgoing, and professional manner.
Salary Information:
The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $20.00-22.00 per hour. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
