MATERIALS RECOVERY FACILITY SORTER

Reports to: Senior MRF Manager
Terms: Regular Full-Time
Shift: 5AM – 3PM Mon – Thurs, 5AM – 1PM Fri
Compensation: $17.00, Hourly

Purpose
Eureka Recycling’s Material Recovery Facility Sorter sorts recyclable and non-recyclable materials on a conveyor belt or sorting table in the Material Recovery Facility (MRF). Clean inside and outside areas of the MRF as required.
Responsibilities
· Safely separate materials to the required standard on a sort line or sorting table, meeting our organizational goals for quality and efficiency.
· Report any safety concerns as near misses in order to prevent injuries and accidents
· Arrive at the assigned position on time and fully prepared, with all required PPE properly in place at the start of the shift and after breaks and lunch
· Follow the rotation schedule appropriately and with a flexible attitude, willingly switching to a different position as directed.
· Report equipment and PPE malfunctions and repair requirements to a supervisor.
· Maintain a clean and organized workspace, free of debris.
· Sweep, shovel, and rake materials as directed.
· Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
· Work courteously and tactfully with employees and supervisors as a cooperative team member.
· Perform other duties and projects as assigned, responding respectfully to supervisors’ requests.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to interact appropriately and professionally with others.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to lift up to 50 lb.
· Ability to work in environments with continuous motion.
· Must be able to stand for up for majority of assigned shift.
· Ability to work in all temperature conditions.
· Constant bending and twisting, reaching and grabbing with hands.
· Walking up and down stairs several times per day (all positions are upstairs).
· Sweeping and shoveling materials.
Working Conditions
· Works indoors and outdoors; subject to seasonal and adverse weather conditions.
· Subject to noise from equipment operation.
· Subject to strong odors.
· Wear appropriate required personal protective equipment.
