e-STORAGE, a subsidiary ofCanadian Solar, is driving the global shift to clean energy through the design, manufacturing, and integration of advanced battery energy storage systems (BESS). With over 3.3 GWh of projects deployed globally, we’re expanding across Australia to support the nation’s transition to renewable power.
We’re now seeking an experiencedCommissioning Managerto lead our commissioning activities for utility-scale battery storage projects. This is a pivotal leadership role for someone who thrives on solving complex technical challenges, leading teams in the field, and delivering energy storage systems that keep Australia’s grid stable, reliable, and sustainable.
About the role
- Lead a team of commissioning engineers and technicians delivering end-to-end commissioning for large-scale BESS projects.
- Develop commissioning plans and procedures, including quality inspections, scheduling, logistics, and resource allocation.
- Act as the key technical liaison between clients, EPCs, and internal engineering teams during project execution.
- Oversee all aspects of site commissioning and acceptance testing – including batteries, PCS, EMS, communications, and balance of plant systems.
- Drive consistent commissioning processes, documentation, and safety practices across projects.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Lead by example — fostering collaboration, problem-solving, and a safety-first culture within your team.
- Travel to project sites as needed for on-site leadership during key commissioning phases.
About you
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field).
- 5+ years of experience in commissioning or project delivery within energy, utilities, substation, or EPC environments.
- At least 2 years’ experience leading teams or supervising technical staff.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, protection schemes, and power system design.
- Experience with grid connection processes, R2 testing, and hold point testing is highly regarded.
- Previous experience withbattery storageorrenewable energy projectshighly regarded.
- Proficiency in MS Project or Smartsheet, with solid technical documentation skills.
- A confident communicator with the ability to simplify complex technical issues and drive decisions under pressure.
- Willingness to travel and work flexibly during key commissioning milestones.
