As a Senior Hybrid Power Consultant, you will be a technical expert with consulting or engineering background working on the delivery of advisory and owner’s engineering services for utility-scale hybrid power projects for lenders, investors, developers and asset owners. These projects include hybrid renewables, energy storage, green hydrogen, and Power-to-X solutions, supporting the region’s vision for sustainable energy.

We seek high-achieving Senior Hybrid Power Consultants with a passion for renewable energy and a desire to help push the industry forward. Ideal candidates should:
- Have 5-10 years of previous work experience in the renewables industry in a consultancy, developer, investor or utility
- Have significant experience working with different renewable energy systems, and hybrid integrated systems (including solar and/or wind and energy storage systems).
- Expertise in writing clear, cohesive reports
- Enjoy collaborating across multi-disciplinary teams
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Mentor junior consultants and contributing to knowledge-sharing initiatives within Wood

Typical Responsibilities
- Lead hybrid power projects, providing engineering inputs from initial assessment, through to technical and economic feasibility, development phase, technical due diligence, design optimisation, financing, construction monitoring, acceptance and operation monitoring
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients, ensuring solutions meet project-specific constraints and regional standards
- Prepare technical documentation: specifications, reports, proposals, and Employer’s Requirements
- Review project contracts and identify technical risks (PPAs, EPC, O&M agreements)
- Provide technical input for R&D initiatives in energy storage and hybrid systems
- Conduct site visits across the Middle East and internationally
- Support integration of hybrid systems with regional grids and infrastructure
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and deliverables while maintaining client relationships

Expected
- MSc or Ph.D in Renewable Energy or a related field
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrochemistry, or related field
- Significant experience working with different renewable energy systems, and hybrid integrated systems
- Familiarity with technologies and products used in hybrid power systems
- Experience with industry-standard modelling software for BESS and hybrid systems
- Basic knowledge of commonly used programming languages
- Understanding of technical and commercial aspects of renewable energy infrastructure projects
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Flexible and proactive approach to project delivery
- Right to work in the UAE (visa sponsorship available for international candidates)
- Previous project management experience
- Excellent communication and report writing skills in English
Desirable
- Previous experience in technical consultancy or project development environments
- Competence in reviewing hybrid power and BESS contracts, warranties, and performance guarantees
- Familiarity with hybrid power and BESS inputs to financial models
- Python programming experience
- Hands-on experience in development, construction, commissioning, or operation of hybrid power and BESS projects (stand-alone or integrated)
- Experience with BESS testing and verification (FAT, SAT, G99 or regional equivalents)
- Experience in technical advisory roles for lenders, developers, or owners
- Academic background in battery technology
- Familiarity with BESS modelling and forecasting (energy output, performance analysis, degradation, revenue stacking, techno-economic optimization)
- Experience with BESS modelling tools (e.g., ABB, AspenTech, HOMER, Fractal)
- Ability to speak Arabic or another language in addition to English (advantageous for regional projects)
- Valid UAE driving license or willingness to obtain one
