Position: Bronx Zoo Wildlife Theater Operations Specialist
Reports to: Bronx Zoo Manager of Live Interpretation
Location: Bronx Zoo, in-person
Department: Education
Position Type: Part-time, Days vary throughout the year. Weekend,
evening, and holiday work required.
Salary: $24/hour
Job Summary:
Major Responsibilities:The Wildlife Theater Operation Specialist main responsibility is to work with the BZ Live
Interpretation management team to ensure effective and efficient planning and event operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Support development and operations of the Bronx Zoo Wildlife Theater program
- Supervise and/or support program and operational aspects during events
- Participate in planning and development of programs
- Work with fellow Operational Specialists on leading rehearsals and stage direction
- Perform short theatrical offerings for audiences
- Maintain sound equipment, props, costumes, puppets, and other materials
- Serve as a mentor to fellow performers
- Learn and implement interpretive practices to connect visitors to WCS animals and initiatives
- Comfort in learning and performing scripted Spanish language material
- Help facilitate a fun and lively work culture
Internal Qualification RequirementsJob Qualifications:
Minimum of two years of experience, training, or schooling in the fields of theater, science,
education, and/or communications.
Experience in interpretive and/or theater program development, implementation, and
evaluation.
Ability to perform utilizing singing, dancing, acting, and puppetry.
Demonstrated ability to develop and foster working relationships.
Experience in a leadership position preferred.
Valid driver's license preferred.
Physical Demands
The physical demands include but are not limited to the use of a Keyboard, 10-key, Mouse, and Telephone Use, Handwriting, Sitting, Standing, Crouching, Kneeling, Bending, Walking, Stair Climbing, minimal Driving, and Lifting up to 50lbs.
