DescriptionThe University of Tennessee is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to serve as a Research Coordinator II within the Center for Renewable Carbon and assist in a new Circular Bioeconomy Systems Convergent Research Initiative. The successful candidate will oversee laboratory daily operations, ensuring functions are performed safely and effectively while supporting research and general operations in a safe and collaborative environment.
ResponsibilitiesThe Research Coordinator will oversee various aspects of laboratory coordination with safety and inventory at the forefront. This may include building management, equipment maintenance, and managing inventories. A significant aspect of the position involves acting as a safety manager ensuring that hazardous materials and equipment are handled with the correct care and consideration. This includes managing safety data sheets (SDS), maintaining chemical inventories and waste streams, training individuals on safe procedures, and ensuring compliance of the students and staff within the lab. Regular inspections of the laboratory and satellite labs, development of SOPs, and troubleshooting safety- or performance-related issues as they arise are all within the scope of this position.
