About the Role
The Project Manager (CSP/CIH) leads and manages environmental health, industrial hygiene, and water quality projects across the Chicagoland region from initiation through completion. In this role, you will leverage your professional expertise to oversee complex site assessments, industrial hygiene evaluations, exposure monitoring, and remediation-related work while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
You’ll manage key client relationships, develop scopes, proposals, and budgets, coordinate field operations, and monitor project performance to ensure technical accuracy and timely delivery. You will also provide mentorship to junior staff, support business development initiatives, and collaborate with leadership to expand service capabilities within the Chicago market.
This position is ideal for experienced CSP/CIH professionals who excel at leading multidisciplinary teams, managing diverse environmental and industrial hygiene projects, and delivering high-quality, client-focused solutions throughout Chicagoland.
This position includes a $5,000 sign-on bonus to welcome you to the FACS team.
What You’ll Do
Lead and Manage Projects
- Oversee environmental health, industrial hygiene, and water quality projects from initiation through completion.
- Conduct site assessments, industrial hygiene evaluations, exposure monitoring, and remediation-related work.
- Develop project scopes, proposals, and budgets while monitoring technical accuracy and timely delivery.
- Manage key client relationships and ensure project deliverables meet federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
- Monitor Work in Progress (WIP), including staff time entries, laboratory charges, and other project costs.
- Select, rent, or verify calibration of necessary field equipment.
- Prepare and review project reports and maintain accurate electronic project documentation.
- Support invoicing, collections, and accounting processes as needed.
Mentor and Develop Staff
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical support to junior staff.
- Assist in recruitment, training, and professional development to promote technical excellence and growth.
Support Business Development
- Make and log client service and business development calls.
- Attend association meetings, targeted presentations, and client events.
- Deliver presentations and assist in preparing marketing materials, including project summaries.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify and expand service offerings in the Chicago market.
Maintain Technical Expertise
- Maintain required CSP/CIH certifications and attend internal and external training programs.
- Participate in quality assurance and quality control audits.
- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and applicable regulations.
What You Bring
- CSP and/or CIH certification with demonstrated experience in environmental health, industrial hygiene, or related fields.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Health and Safety, Biological or Physical Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of technical and industry experience, including managing small- to mid-scale projects within relevant service lines.
- Current required state licensure and certifications for work performed.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance.
- Ability to pass annual medical exams and respirator fit tests.
- Effective, professional, and clear communication skills — both written and verbal.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules and travel to multiple project locations as needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and ability to learn new software quickly.
