Position Summary
§ Inspects facilities to ensure compliance with environmental procedures and federal, state, and local permits and regulations
§ Conducts audits and inspections; verifies compliance with project plan/procedure; recommends adjustments
§ Coordinates and verifies work progress in accordance with relevant specifications and Company environmental systems
§ Prepares and updates environmental reports for submittal to regulatory agencies; gather data, compile and report accordingly for all required routine and major Title V and other Environmental report programs including, but not limited to: BWON, Greenhouse Gas reporting, Toxic Release Inventory, Tier II Chemical Inventory, Annual Emissions Inventory, NESHAP, NSPS
§ Maintains complete and clear documentation of environmental operations for reference
§ Assists in developing, maintaining and updating project environmental policy and procedure manual
§ Ensures compliance with, and trains employees on, environmental procedures, plans, and regulations; keeps abreast of legal changes that impact the site
§ Performs regular evaluations to assess potential environmental related issues with pollution control laws; knows and understands environmental regulations in an industrial setting; takes actions necessary to ensure a return to compliance
§ Inspects work areas and procedures; makes environmental, health and safety recommendations accordingly
§ Performs water, air and/or soil sampling for analysis; performs testing; reports and records findings
§ Works with contractors to maintain monitoring programs and environmental management
§ Identifies areas of improvement; reduces environmental damages and waste
§ Performs routine inspections of site operations for sources of pollution; documents findings; determines compliance
§ Assists managers and operators in understanding environmental regulatory obligations
§ Provides training and assistance to team members
§ Coordinates and administers actions necessary for compliance sampling, testing and reporting of air pollution, solid and hazardous waste management, spills, and storm water
§ Assists in determining areas of improvement to lessen environmental releases, waste and damages; participates in and/or leads root cause analysis of environmental issues; plans and implements remedial actions
§ Assist in incident reviews and investigations as it pertains to environmental impact
§ Assist in MOC evaluations for environmental impact
§ Develops hazard control programs to reduce contaminations and accidents as requested
§ Assists in preparing, implementing, updating, and maintaining environmental plans and procedures for site
§ Coordinates environmental operations; assists with permit renewals and regulatory compliance
§ Monitors state and federal regulatory developments, trends; assesses impact; makes recommendations for adjustments
§ Be available as Environmental SME for Air Compliance inspections by regulatory agencies
§ Applies environmental regulatory knowledge and experience; develops strategies and solutions to issues facing the Company
§ Abides by all safety procedures and practices applicable to location and position; participates in appropriate safety training; demonstrates commitment to and support of EHSS principles and values; champions safety at all times; participates in and/or leads safety teams or projects as appropriate
§ Performs other duties assigned by management that generally fall within the expected scope of this position

Experience & KSA’s Required
§ Minimum of 3-5 years’ direct experience in environmental field, preferably in petrochemical plants
§ Experience implementing environmental programs and procedures; experience writing procedures
§ Excellent knowledge of governmental agencies and reporting requirements
§ Experience in sample collection for laboratory or other analysis
§ Knowledge of and experience in oil and chemical spill clean-up processes and procedures
§ Ability to conduct tests and inspections in field settings
§ Knowledge of regulatory requirements; ability to read and follow requirements
§ Experience compiling and submitting reports to meet procedural requirements
§ Possesses basic mathematical skills such as basic algebra
§ Skilled in problem solving, identifying issues, and applying solutions
§ Willingness to work with multiple position levels; confident
§ Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow through on assignments
§ Good computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to use database systems and other programs and applications used by this position and at Company
§ Fluent in English language including reading, writing and speaking; ability to read and write at a minimum of high school level; ability to clearly communicate to all levels in organization
Education Requirement
§ Bachelor’s degree in environmental, biological, chemical sciences, or related field highly desired
§ Environmental certifications preferred

Work Environment

This position requires an employee to be in an office environment, exposed to outside elements as well as indoor plant and control room environments. The position may be exposed to various chemicals and compounds, including fumes and smells, some of which may be considered hazardous. Outside conditions include temperatures with the most extreme elements being heat in the summer months of up to 100°+ and some exposure to cold of generally no less than 0° in the winter months. The Employee will enter confined spaces and work in elevated environments. Employee must be able to wear PPE required by the location. Loud sounds and vibrations will be experienced at times. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. All environments are safe with appropriate PPE. Employee must be able to safely drive a UTV vehicle.

The employee will be required to climb ladders and towers or tanks up to 330’ in height. The employee will be required to enter confined spaces and crawl under rail cars or trucks. The employee will lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee may be required to travel by air, rail, bus, car, or other modes of ground transportation.
