Will Consider Transportation Planner
Under the direction of a Senior Transportation Planner the incumbent in this position, in coordination with other System Planning staff, conducts research and compiles data for the preparation of System Planning documents. The incumbent in this position also prepares spreadsheets, maintains a database in support of System Planning activities and special planning projects, creates focused lists and presentations.

Working Conditions
Position located at 1976 E Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Stockton, San Joaquin County.

This is a Limited Term position which may be extended to 24 months or become permanent.

While at their base of operation, employees will work in a climate‑controlled office under artificial lighting. Employees will be required to traverse the District compound to discuss projects with staff in other buildings. This may be necessary during inclement weather conditions. Employees may also be required to travel for special assignments, meetings or route reviews, some of which may be before or after regular business hours or inclement weather. Employees may be required to work outside to perform project field and site reviews during varying seasonal conditions.
This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’s evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in‑person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
Special Requirements
Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle. Occasional travel may be required.
The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) serves as documentation of each applicant's ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. Please describe your education, skills, and/or work experiences with the following:
- Experience in monitoring expenditures and encumbrances and preparing reports regarding organizational financial conditions.
- Experience and level of skill in using spreadsheets and databases.
- Experience in applying policy guidelines to program rules to determine proper course of action.
- Experience working independently and with groups or teams.
- Experience working in a customer‑service environment, including resolving problems, finding common ground, and communicating clearly and cooperatively.
