Purchase Manager (B2B - EPC & Solar Industry)
About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated, results-driven Purchase Manager with extensive experience in the B2B sector, specifically supporting Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects within the Solar/Renewable Energy industry. The ideal candidate must possess deep, hands-on expertise in steel procurement to ensure the cost-effective, timely, and quality supply of critical balance-of-system (BOS) materials.This role requires a strategic thinker who can manage the entire procurement cycle for both solar-specific and general EPC requirements while maintaining strong vendor relationships and driving significant cost savings.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Procurement & Management (EPC & Solar)

Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans for all project materials, focusing on both solar components (e.g., inverters, modules, cables) and structural materials.

Manage the procurement budget and activities, ensuring strict alignment with EPC project timelines, budget constraints, and delivery schedules.

Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the procurement department, prioritizing cost reduction, quality compliance, and reliable supply chain performance in high-stakes projects.

Negotiate and manage high-value contracts and long-term agreements with key domestic and international suppliers.
Specialized Steel Procurement & Execution

Hands-on responsibility for the entire procurement process of crucial steel materials used in solar mounting structures and general EPC fabrication. This includes:

MS Flats (Mild Steel Flats)

Mild Steel Flat Bars

MS Plates
-
Structural Steel (Angles, Channels, Beams, etc.)

Conduct continuous market analysis to monitor steel price volatility, identify new vendors, and implement strategies to mitigate material supply risks unique to the EPC cycle.

Ensure all procured steel and structural materials strictly comply with project specifications, Indian/international quality standards (e.g., IS, ASTM), and required galvanization/coating requirements.
Vendor Management & Operational Efficiency

Identify, evaluate, and qualify new vendors for both steel supplies and solar components based on cost, quality, and reliability.

Cultivate strong, ethical relationships with the existing vendor base to secure priority supply and competitive pricing.

Collaborate closely with the Project Management, Engineering, and Sales teams to accurately forecast material requirements for B2B solar/EPC contracts and manage inventory efficiently.

Oversee the processing of purchase orders (POs), requisitions, and necessary documentation, ensuring timely and compliant execution.
Qualifications & Requirements

xperience: Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in procurement, with significant exposure to the B2B/EPC and Solar/Renewable Energy sectors.

Expertise: Proven, hands-on experience in the sourcing and purchasing of steel and structural materials is mandatory.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related technical field.

Demonstrated strength in negotiation and large-scale contract management.

Deep understanding of the logistics and supply chain dynamics within the EPC and Solar project lifecycle.
