Job Responsibilities
The Sustainable Business team’s responsibilities include:
- Supporting Group Wholesale with strategic clients engagement - providing insights into key sustainable finance developments/trends that can impact/benefit the clients from ESG perspective, sharing UOB own sustainability commitment and progress, participating in clients outreach program (as part of Scope 3 mitigation).
- Rollout SME Sustainability Accelerator program, with various internal stakeholders working alongside strategic partners – First launch in October 2023. To be rolled out nationwide. To define program targets/measures, track and update progress.
- Upcoming – work with PFS to develop sustainability strategy (to be aligned with Group, incorporating local requirements)
- Review strategic sustainability events and recommend UOB’s participation and positioning
The main responsibilities of this role will include:
- supporting sustainable business partners in frontline units to implement sustainable finance and corporate sustainability strategies;
- building, nurturing and deepening relationships with ecosystem partners to seek out new opportunities for scaling up credible sustainable finance programmes, and supporting coverage and product teams as a subject-matter expert;
- contributing to ESG thought leadership by staying up-to-date on sustainable finance and standards developments from a global and regional perspective, with a particular focus on climate-related standards and sustainable finance market practices;
- creating awareness of ESG risks, and to identify and flag potential implications during the design and execution of our sustainable finance and corporate sustainability strategies; and
- supporting the operationalisation planning and implementation activities of UOB’s net zero commitments.
Requirements
- At least 15 years of experience in areas related to ESG, across industry.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of sustainable finance market developments and opportunities;
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate in a clear and structured manner;
- Experience influencing and motivating stakeholders; and
- Self-motivated and strong interpersonal skills; able to work independently.
