DescriptionSavannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is seeking to hire a Group Manager for the SRNL Environmental Compliance (EC) organization. The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing and implementing environmental compliance programs and initiatives. This role involves ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, Department of Energy (DOE) requirements, fostering a culture of safety and environmental stewardship, and leading a team of environmental compliance professionals.
Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Environment Compliance programs, policies, and procedures to comply with regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Oversee and manage environmental compliance audits, inspections, and assessments to identify potential risks and ensure adherence to environmental regulations and best practices.
- Lead and mentor a team of environmental compliance professionals, providing direction, support, and performance feedback.
- Collaborate with various departments to integrate environmental considerations into business operations and decision-making processes.
- Monitor and analyze environmental compliance performance metrics and trends and develop strategies for continuous improvement.
- Ensure timely reporting and communication of environmental excursions, incidents, near-misses, and corrective actions to relevant stakeholders.
- Stay current with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and industry standards, and communicate changes to the organization.
- Coordinate and deliver environmental training programs to employees at all levels, ensuring awareness and understanding of environmental policies and procedures.
- Promote a culture of safety, sustainability, and health through proactive engagement and education initiatives.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external regulatory agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding environmental matters.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Engineering, or a technical degree and 8+ years of experience in environmental or waste management field and/or programs roles or master’s degree and 6+ years of experience.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to develop and implement strategic plans for environmental programs.
- For ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, US Citizenship is Legally Required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in environmental management or serving in a lead role preferred.
- Experience working in a National Laboratory
- Active DOE Clearance
