Description
Under general supervision and working directly with the Town’s Director of Environmental Services, Environmental Resources Division staff, and Keep Flower Mound Beautiful (KFMB, ) coordinates and assists with the Town’s various environmental programs including the sustainability initiatives, and environmental educational initiatives for the Town’s Urban Forestry Program, Stormwater Management Program, KFMB programs/events, and assists in various environmental assessments and research for the Town’s Environmental Conservation Commission.
Examples of Duties
- Coordinates the development and implementation of the Town’s environmental education programs; including educational aspects of the Stormwater Management Program, Sustainability initiatives, and the Urban Forestry Program.
- Responsible for the supervision of the Environmental Resources Specialist position.
- Assists divisional staff with KFMB programs; event planning and implementation of special events and programs, such as the spring and fall trash/litter cleanup events and Lend-a-Hand program.
- Assists with research, development, and implementation of the Community Source Water Protection Program.
- Responsible for completing required reports and conducting various types of research.
- Prepares educational material concerning the Environmental Resources Division efforts and programs to be disseminated to the general public.
- Assists with preparing materials and agenda items for the Environmental Conservation Commission.
- Adheres to the personnel, safety, and department policies and procedures.
- Informs supervisor of all work activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or four (4) years of equivalent experience in Environmental Science, Policy, or a related field is required. Any combination of education and experience may be substituted.
- Must have a valid state-issued driver’s license and driving record must be in compliance with Town policy.
- Must have one (1) year of experience in at least one (1) of the following: environmental work/research, environmental policy or compliance related to stormwater/water quality or a related field, non-profit administration, or educational outreach.

- Must have excellent English communicative skills, both oral and written, to include spelling, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure.
- Must have basic skills in personal computer operations to include Microsoft Word.
- Must be able to understand and carry out oral and written directives; work well under pressure and stress; handle multiple tasks; and prioritize and organize work assignments.
