About the Role
The Senior Environmental Health Specialist plays a key role in leading field projects, performing specialized environmental testing, and supporting project management across asbestos, lead, mold, and broader industrial hygiene initiatives. In this role, you will ensure all activities comply with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements while promoting technical quality, safety, and operational efficiency.
What You’ll Do
Support Project Management
- Assist Project Managers while building advanced leadership and management capabilities across asbestos, lead, mold, and industrial hygiene projects.
- Contribute to project planning through development of budgets, proposals, technical reports, and remediation specifications.
Conduct and Oversee Field Work
- Perform and oversee field surveys, inspections, and environmental health assessments.
- Ensure all field activities comply with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
- Manage abatement oversight and monitor contractor safety compliance.
Program and Project Oversight
- Manage the asbestos program for the Chicago office, ensuring consistent technical quality, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency across projects.
Mentorship and Staff Development
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
- Support the development of field and reporting skills in team members.
Client Engagement
- Engage directly with clients to support project delivery.
- Maintain strong professional relationships and ensure all work meets high standards of accuracy, quality, and regulatory compliance.
What You Bring
This position is ideal for an experienced professional looking to expand project management expertise, take on leadership responsibilities, and make a measurable impact on environmental health and safety outcomes.
- Current certifications required to perform specialized environmental and industrial hygiene work.
- Minimum 2 years of direct technical experience in environmental health, industrial hygiene, or related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Health and Safety, Biological or Physical Science, or equivalent experience.
- Excellent time management, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong, positive relationships with clients and team members.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules and travel to multiple project locations as needed.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance.
- Ability to pass annual medical exams, respirator fit tests, and background checks.
