Your Opportunity:
As Development Director, you’ll play a pivotal leadership role in driving our fundraising strategy, cultivating meaningful donor relationships, and empowering our Board of Directors to amplify their impact. You’ll be at the heart of our mission—connecting passionate supporters to the cause, securing vital resources, and ensuring Virginia LCV’s continued success in protecting what matters most.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fundraising Leadership:
Develop and execute innovative fundraising plans to grow and diversify revenue streams, including major gifts, foundation grants, annual giving, direct mail, and digital campaigns. - Donor Engagement:
Build and nurture enduring partnerships with individual donors, foundations, and key philanthropic leaders. Lead cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts that inspire generosity and deepen commitment to Virginia LCV’s mission. - Grant Management:
Identify grant opportunities, craft compelling proposals, and manage reporting to secure foundation support for our programs and initiatives. - Board & Committee Collaboration:
Partner with the Board of Directors and Development Committee to expand fundraising capacity, support ambassadorship, and drive organizational growth. - Events & Campaigns:
Plan and execute impactful fundraising events and campaigns that engage supporters and elevate our profile across Virginia. - Team Leadership:
Supervise and mentor development staff, foster collaboration with program teams, and champion best practices in donor management and CRM systems.
Who You Are:
- A passionate advocate for conservation and environmental justice, eager to make a difference in Virginia.
- Highly skilled in foundation grant writing and major gifts fundraising, with at least five years of non-profit fund development experience (including two years in a leadership role).
- Proven track record of achieving ambitious fundraising goals and building strong relationships with donors, foundations, and community leaders.
- Strategic thinker with expertise in moves management systems, donor stewardship, and fundraising communications.
- Exceptional communicator—able to craft compelling stories and inspire support through written and verbal outreach.
- Collaborative, organized, and self-motivated, with a commitment to equity, confidentiality, and professional growth.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent experience); CFRE designation a plus.
