SUMMARY: The Sanitation Manager is responsible for managing all sanitation operations Grounds department. Reports to the Director of Park Grounds. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned) - Supervise a team of sanitation attendants with all contracted waste hauling and trash dumpsters throughout the Park, including for events held in the park.
- Coordinate directly with the Sanitation Manager regarding waste removal needs.
- Supervise all aspects of sanitation team and their responsibilities
- Coordinates recycling and sanitation needs for special events.
- Functions as the main point of contact for the grounds department on weekends when the sanitation manager is not present, and reports any issues immediately to themanager.
- Responsible for inventory and reporting all sanitation supplies needs.
- Operates all equipment needed to perform sanitation duties efficiently.
- Develops and executes a daily plan for removal of all trash, cleaning and stocking of restrooms throughout the park
- Resolves day-to-day questions or problems regarding equipment, materials ,methods and procedures required to complete projects
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with all park staff, vendors and the public.
- Operates all grounds equipment needed to efficiently remove trash from the ground, such as loaders, skid steers, and dump trailers.
- Supports and actively promotes New Orleans City Park safety programs
- Performs field inspections to ensure that waste collection is performed efficiently
- Investigates and responds to customer complaints promptly and tactfully
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
- Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques
- Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one and in group situations.
Supervisory responsibilities - Establishes team member routes and zones for trash collection and facility cleaning
- Performs field inspections to ensure completion of team member tasks
- Assists with resolving day-to-day questions and problems regarding equipment, materials, methods and procedures needed to complete projects
- Schedules and prioritizes manpower and projects
- Assists with budgeting, inventory and scheduling of sanitation staff
- Efficiently directs staff and daily objective and tasks
- Supervises and trains staff and aspects of park sanitation
- Ensures all equipment is clean and undamaged at the end of the day and properly stored and put away
- Ensures that all personnel in the group adheres to park policies
qualifications and education requirements - Active, unrestricted driver’s license
- 2 years or more of work related to grounds maintenance or custodial duties
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
