What you’ll do

Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Design Release Engineers.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Manage resource allocation and workload balancing across programs.
- Manage hardware engineering teams to release designs on time with high quality.
- Identify risks related to thermal management systems and implement effective strategies to mitigate these risks
Program Execution
- Oversee the team of engineer’s design, development, and release of components and systems in alignment with vehicle program milestones.
- Ensure the team is meeting timely delivery of engineering releases, drawings, and specifications.
- Coordinate cross-functional activities with manufacturing, purchasing, quality, and suppliers.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to deliver products on schedule and within budget constraints.
Technical Oversight
- Provide guidance on engineering standards, DFMEA, DVP&R, and regulatory compliance.
- Review and approve design changes, engineering documentation, and release packages.
- Support root cause analysis and resolution of technical issues.
- Stay informed about the latest industry tools and technologies to ensure the team is equipped with state-of-the-art resources.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary engineering interface for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with program management, product planning, and supplier engineering teams.
- Communicate program status, risks, and mitigation plans to leadership.
Process & Quality Management
- Drive adherence to engineering processes and systems (e.g., PLM, change management).
- Monitor and improve KPIs related to quality, timing, and cost.
- Support audits and ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
- Coordinate with validation and testing teams to develop and execute component bench testing, integration testing, and system testing.
Lead team in collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive balance design and requirements
- Concept teams driving new designs
- Performance and simulation lead to ensure hardware meets requirements
- Production teams to ensure all parties meet production timelines
- Finance team to ensure all parts meeting cost targets
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, driving continuous improvement in calibration processes.
Location & Travel Expectations:
- This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, Michigan.
- The responsibilities of this role requireattendance in office with in-person meetings and events regularly.
- Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, electrical, mechanical or automotive engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of proven experience in battery or propulsion thermal system engineering with 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Several years of demonstrated progressive experience building and leading technical teams
- Experience in thermal and energy systems.
- Strong understanding of automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and FlexRay
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Minimum of High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required for all roles at Scout Motors, Inc.

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $140,000.00 - $170,000.00
