How You’ll Make an Impact
The Environmental Sustainability Analyst Sr is responsible for being the catalyst for identifying and proposing potential solutions that will help Fidelity Canada lower our environmental footprint and realize our operational climate ambitions. This role will focus on identifying solutions to reduce natural gas, electricity, business travel, and purchased goods and services emissions and any other material environmental impacts.
Primary Responsibilities
Emissions Reduction Planning & Execution
- As an expert in Fidelity Canada’s operational emissions profile and trends, develop and deliver 5-year emission reduction plans and accompanying targets.
- Develop and execute Fidelity Canada’s renewables and carbon offset approach.
- Engage with real estate team and landlords/other tenants to advance facilities emissions reduction efforts.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders (finance business support and high emitting departments) to identify, cost, and prioritize actions that reduce our operational environmental footprint.
- Work closely with procurement department in establishing more accurate methods of estimating emissions from suppliers.
- Lead the development of internal policies and strategies in support of realizing Fidelity Canada emission reduction targets.
- Prepare annual external disclosure in alignment with CSDS 2 / IFRS S2 and in compliance with regulation.
Drive Actionable Research and Intelligence
- Research and analyze relevant standards and frameworks for emissions reduction (e.g. ISO, SBTi).
- Research potential decarbonization partnerships/vendors and innovation opportunities that may benefit Fidelity Canada and help assess and prioritize decarbonization actions.
- Become an in-house expert on voluntary carbon offset markets and how they may be applied to Fidelity Canada decarbonization efforts.
- Advise and engage with leaders across the company as a go-to resource for environmental sustainability trends.
- Conduct regular climate-related peer benchmarking and distill market / industry insight to apply to Fidelity’s strategy and practices.
Employee Environment Group (EEG) Enablement
- Act as a point of contact between the EEG and the Corporate Sustainability team for guidance on sustainability matters and group's initiatives.
- Provide guidance to EEG Co-Chairs and Leads to ensure initiatives align with Fidelity Canada’s Environmental Impact focus area.
- Share new relevant sustainability learning resources and development opportunities.
- Monitor and manage the EEG’s annual budget allocation.
- Support succession planning and leadership transitions within the EEG.
What We’re Looking For
- University degree majoring in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- More than 3 years of experience working in a similar role.
- Experience using cloud-based carbon accounting and decarbonization software such as Workiva Carbon.
- Demonstrated experience in environmental analysis and solutions modeling.
- Demonstrated experience working with Power Purchase Agreements.
- Financial Services industry experience an asset.
- Environment or Energy-Related certifications are considered an asset.
The Expertise You Bring
- Technical experience with corporate decarbonization strategy development and execution, including lever scenario modelling, target setting aligned to internationally recognized methodologies and carbon accounting / emission reduction monitoring.
- Fluency in navigating renewable energy and carbon markets.
- Expertise in climate policy and climate reporting frameworks (e.g. CSDS 2 / IFRS S2, Transition Plan Taskforce).
- Ability to simplify complex policy issues into actionable guidance for a business audience.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Strong project management experience.
- Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
