Qualifications:
- Position requires a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or science with related technical and regulatory experience in the chemical manufacturing industry.
- Minimum 3+ years of environmental experience in chemical manufacturing, consulting, or regulatory role.
- Experience with data analysis tools to demonstrate and document compliance.
Basic Function:
The Environmental Specialist for Air Quality Programs is responsible for all aspects of compliance with state and federal air regulations and laws:
- Identify, analyze and implement current and potential Air Quality Programs regulatory and business requirements that will affect the site and corporate operations.
- Develop permit applications and implement permits, programs, training, and procedures including maintenance of records that will promote compliance with air permits, regulations and laws.
- Review projects or significant modifications to determine any Air Quality Programs requirements or regulatory agency notifications as dictated by the project / modification.
- Preparation and timely submittal of compliance reports including applicable MACT (HON experience preferred) periodic, Title V, NSPS, TRI, SARA, EGGRT, and CEDRI reports.
- Investigate compliance deviations which exceed allowable levels as set by regulatory agencies such as air emissions, compliance requirements, etc. Document follow-up reports to regulatory agencies explaining occurrences and steps taken to mitigate the problem. Facilitate implementation of procedures/projects to preclude recurrence.
- Effectively advocate for the site and business partners with regulatory agency personnel and/or trade associations and communicate compliance requirements with corporate / site leadership.
- Responsible for championing environmental awareness, waste minimization, sustainability, and continuous improvement for the site and business partners.
Leadership:
- The individual will develop, implement and train appropriate personnel on permits, programs and procedures for Air Quality Programs compliance.
- The individual will provide advice and guidance on Air Quality Programs to the site.
- The individual must be able to direct and negotiate company position with regulatory agencies, trade associations, and other external entities.
- The individual must stay knowledgeable of ever-changing regulatory developments, regulations, and legislation to make appropriate recommendations.
