What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
- Lead the formation and development of Scout Motors’ product liability team and the implementation of internal programs that support customers’ expectations for high quality vehicles that are designed and engineered for safety, including training, policies and procedures.
- Build relationships and working groups across internal teams, including Regulatory Affairs, Quality, and Engineering, to conduct risk assessments and proactively evaluate products against all applicable standards and industry best in class norms.
- Review marketing and warnings labels to verify that product warnings, instructions, and marketing materials are clear, accurate, and comply with all applicable regulations.
- Lead investigations of customer complaints and track industry field actions to analyze product performance and achieve early identification of design and manufacturing defects.
- Coordinate with internal teams to design and execute effective recall and field action plans as needed.
- Advise and support Scout Motors’ litigation team and outside counsel to develop defenses on all cases involving product performance.
Location & Travel Expectations:
- This position may be based in Tysons, Virginia; Columbia, South Carolina; or at the future Scout Motors Headquarters. Remote work arrangements may be considered for qualified candidates located in the Northeastern or Midwestern U.S.
- If the identified candidate is to be based out of the future Scout Motors corporate headquarters, which is anticipated to be identified in 2025, this role may be remote to start but will transition to an in-office setting at the headquarters after the location is determined, and you are expected to relocate at such time. This role is not eligible for remote work in New York City.
- The responsibilities of this role require 3-4 days attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly.
- Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to one or more applicable state bars
- Minimum 10 years of experience on product liability or regulatory compliance, automotive industry experience required, in-house experience preferred
- In-depth knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and best practices with respect to automotive product liability
- Proven track record of providing legal counsel and support on automotive product liability matters
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience building, developing and managing a team of legal professionals
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex legal issues and provide practical solutions
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Ability to work well across departments and strengthen company culture through effective collaboration

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $200,000.00 - $245,000.00
