JOB OVERVIEW:
The Construction Manager (CM) is a key leadership role responsible for the safe, high-quality contractually and engineering compliant construction on-time, and financially successful execution of utility-scale renewable energy projects. The CM plays a central role throughout the full project lifecycle—from pre-construction planning and mobilization through construction execution, commissioning, closeout, and demobilization.
Working in close partnership with the Project Manager (PM) and Assistant Project Manager (APM), the Construction Manager leads field execution, drives on-time production performance, safeguards project scope, and serves as the primary on-site client interface.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Provide leadership for safe, high-quality, and efficient field execution.
- Lead pre-planning, mobilization, and execution in alignment with the Project Execution Plan (PEP). Ensures project teams are aligned on execution strategy, risks, opportunities, logistics, staffing, and production plans prior to mobilization.
- Maintain strong and consistent field presence to audit work activities and engage crews.
- Champion PRE safety culture and ensure compliance with Standard Work Instructions, Job Hazard Analysis, and Personal Protective Equipment requirements.
- Ensure all work meets engineering, contractual, owner, and internal quality requirements.
- Lead Plan of the Day (POD), weekly planning, and three-week look-ahead meetings.
- Review production, productivity, and cost performance against budget and schedule.
- Understands and enforces EPC contract requirements affecting construction execution.
- Share responsibility for project Profit & Loss (P&L) performance.
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for client representatives.
- Manage subcontractor performance, compliance, and recovery planning.
- Support commissioning, punch list, closeout, and demobilization activities.
- Provide leadership by coaching, mentoring and developing direct reports, as well as ensuring supervisors are coaching and mentoring their staff.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Minimum of 10+ years of progressively responsible construction experience.
- Prior experience on utility-scale solar or renewable energy projects preferred.
- Strong understanding of EPC contracts, construction sequencing, and field execution.
- Valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
- Interpersonal skills – Ability to supervise and present information to many employees.
- Working knowledge of construction equipment and their appropriate applications.
- Effective communication skills (oral, written, listening, presentation) to effectively work with owners, vendors, employees, landowners, etc.
- Computer literacy. This does not include knowledge of all software to be used, but the ability to learn to use efficiently the software which is in use. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio).
- Organization skills. Scheduling, planning and prioritization.
- Accounting (math and record keeping).
- Intermediate construction drawing knowledge. Knowledge of drawing layouts, references, notes, and good practices associated with producing and reading construction drawings.
- Basic general construction knowledge of terminology, crafts, and documents.
- Ability to follow safety rules without cutting corners. To understand the intent of safety rules, not blindly adhering to the literal words of the rule.
- Must re-locate to the project site for the duration of each construction project they are assigned to.

PAY EQUITY:
$130,000 - $165,000 per year

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must comply with client safety requirements (e.g., clean-shaven, long sleeves, steel-toe boots).
- Must pass a physical exam if required.
- Able to:
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, and stairways.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work at heights or in confined spaces (e.g., towers, vessels, excavations).
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (Use assistance for heavier loads).
- Stand or walk for extended periods on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel).
- Must be able to wear a respirator and other PPE when required.
