A DAY IN THE LIFE
Enthalpy Analytical, is part of the larger organization, Montrose Environmental Group, is comprised of over 9 laboratories servicing air, water, and soil testing. Regulations drive the need for our services, but our unique capabilities allow us to add value to clients beyond environmental compliance.
Our Orange, CA facility is currently seeking Part Time Temporary Laboratory Interns to join our team.
Hiring Timeline & Program Details
This internship opportunity will be posted starting October 3. We encourage all interested candidates to submit their application as early as possible for full consideration.
Application Deadline: Rolling, but priority will be given to applications received by October 20.
Interviews: Selected applicants will be contacted for interviews between October 13 and October 31.
Offers/Selections: Final decisions and offers will be extended between November 3 and November 7.
Planned Start Date: December 1, 2025
Internship Term: 6 months, with potential for extension up to 12 months based on business needs.
Schedule: 40 hours/week during school breaks, 20 hours/week during semester
Pay: $16.50/hour in 2025; Hourly rate will increase to $16.90 starting on Jan 1, 2026.
Departments: Sample Receiving, Wet Chemistry, Metals, Micro/IC, Volatile Organic Analysis (VOA), and Semi-Volatile Organic Analysis (SVOA), and Air
As a key member of the laboratory team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:
Preparing samples for digestion or extraction as needed. Tasks can include but not limited to: sample login, weighing, making composites, crushing samples, incremental sampling, product sampling, sample disposal
Calibrating/packing equipment for use in-field or in-lab
Washing glassware
Preparing reagents as needed
Conducting simple water quality assays
Data entry
Perform support tasks as needed
YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
High School Diploma
Currently enrolled in a local University
Basic laboratory techniques (knowledge of PPE, use of balance, pipetting, glassware handling, etc)
Basic Excel skills required
Must have ability to follow directions and work in a team setting
Must be comfortable working with strong acids and solvents
Excellent communication skills required
Detail oriented
Prior Laboratory experience preferred but not required as this is an intern position
Knowledge of analytical method, analytical instruments, general lab practices and lab safety
Ability to work independently and in a team
Good organizational skills and strong communication skills
Must be able to work in a stationary position for entire shift duration
Must be able to lift and move up to 25 lbs independently and 50 lbs using assisted lifting equipment
